I have set a framerate limit of 40 fps (why would you need more?) and I have never, ever experienced any problems with LFS, res. 1440x900, but even on the HD TV set it was perfectly smooth with 4xAA, 8xAF and all other settings set to max
well, in many ways the more realistic the better but i'm not so sure on this occasion
we talking about screens here, with very limited angle of view comparing to real life and these less realistic mirrors are simply helping to avoid complete mayhem during close racing, get into any car behind the wheel and compare what you can see with the view you get on a screen, there is a huuuuuuge difference and because of that some tricks must be in use to make up for it
I don't know what you are looking for, I used to play TOCA 2 years, years ago, but... this is something totally different
if you are looking for the feeling that you are "good" because you can enter a corner at 200 kph and you can correct every single slide then go for TOCA
but if you are looking for the feeling that you really need to learn how to treat this bloody machinery to keep it up at speed and than after some time realize how much you have improved, go for LFS
I am still learning for example, but I do enjoy it
considering your questions:
- lfsmanual.net
- manual changes will never give you 10 sec. but do you really find manual changes that challenging???
- for me it's LFS all the way
- once you get in the RWD powerfull car you rather need a wheel to get the proper experience if you ask me
the real question you will have to answer to yourself is:
"will I enjoy learning?"
no offence, just wanted to make things clear, you replied after my post so there was quite a big probability you are refering to me and I had no idea why would you
but what about Vista? runnig it in compability mode with Win XP didn't help, does it work at all on Vista systems or I should simply give up? I was using it on my old system and liked it...
any solution to this error? did the search but can't find anytinhg

1. the res is doubled comparing to the original, it's 1024x1024 now, mind that this is the res of the whole car skin online
2. the images quality is ok, rather the size of the texture is a problem
3. of course it is flat, because the mesh is flat... it's a texture...
if you are using a large display with hi-res you possibly get a pixelation effect, i'm using it at 1280x800 on a laptop and it's ok, again: until the FXR gets a proper interior from the devs, because the default one was hurting my eyes
if anyone want's to go bigger and better just let me know, I can send the source .pspimage file, I just don't see any point in doing it for myself
have a look at the screenshot and feel free to download if you like it
I'm not plannig to go any further, just made it for myself as a fast solution until the devs will provide a proper interior for FXR, but once it's ready why not sharing it..
the wheel texture is separate of course
what would be nice are some cars with good modern design, but not the "the Citroen gt interior in your uf1", that's for sure
let's wait and see how the Scirocco interior will be made like..
the design of the cars is probablly the weakest point in LFS, which is quite good in fact, as this means the more important points are it's stronger points
WTCC class cars
some more GT-1 cars, for more diversity
V8 supercars from australia
Atom, X-Bow, Radical kind of cars
and something that sounds like the Aston V8 Vantage...
