i'm using ASUS N50vn with 9650GT

I have set a framerate limit of 40 fps (why would you need more?) and I have never, ever experienced any problems with LFS, res. 1440x900, but even on the HD TV set it was perfectly smooth with 4xAA, 8xAF and all other settings set to max

well, in many ways the more realistic the better but i'm not so sure on this occasion

we talking about screens here, with very limited angle of view comparing to real life and these less realistic mirrors are simply helping to avoid complete mayhem during close racing, get into any car behind the wheel and compare what you can see with the view you get on a screen, there is a huuuuuuge difference and because of that some tricks must be in use to make up for it

Quote from The Very End :Sure the hardware has a lot to say, but the problem is the wireless itself, due to the fact it's air. Sure, it can be very good, and superb for laptops around in the house when you canot be bottered to plug it with a cable just to check your netbank / forum or newspaper page. But it will allways, no matter what, give more latency/lag and similar things compared to cable.

So, as people have pointed out before, wireless is good enough for most things, and very userfriendly. But for games please try, as much as possible to run a wired connection.

And, even if you does not see the lag, the others will

we are racing a lot with friends so doing some regular tests won't be a real problem, will check it, because it made me curious

I've switched from cable to WiFi after changing my laptop for a new one and none of my friends have complained about the lag since

but the old one was simply impossible to use, that's a fact

manual shifting is simply so much more fun than automatic

the same in real, I once had an automatic rented for a week in US, soooooo frustrating on the mountain roads

I don't think the problem still exists with the new WiFi hardware, but with the old one I did always use the cable

for me it's a good news

Lola, Lotus, Prodrive, Epsilon.. or some other team may take the free spots on the grid

and as a Pole I am happy that Kubica will be free to change a team, for a one that really understands what is F1 racing

well...

I don't know what you are looking for, I used to play TOCA 2 years, years ago, but... this is something totally different

if you are looking for the feeling that you are "good" because you can enter a corner at 200 kph and you can correct every single slide then go for TOCA

but if you are looking for the feeling that you really need to learn how to treat this bloody machinery to keep it up at speed and than after some time realize how much you have improved, go for LFS

I am still learning for example, but I do enjoy it

considering your questions:
- lfsmanual.net
- manual changes will never give you 10 sec. but do you really find manual changes that challenging???
- for me it's LFS all the way
- once you get in the RWD powerfull car you rather need a wheel to get the proper experience if you ask me

the real question you will have to answer to yourself is:
"will I enjoy learning?"

Quote from scipy :Did I quote you? Actually, what you said might be the only good thing to come out of this otherwise "great" idea.

no offence, just wanted to make things clear, you replied after my post so there was quite a big probability you are refering to me and I had no idea why would you

Quote from J@tko :/pitlane <username> does the trick

thx, didn't know that

it would be a great thing if it led to developing (official or unofficial) some nice "race control" options in one big, user friendly pack

race fuel in quali, forming lap, applying grid penalties afer quali and maybe even starting from pit lane penalty

without this kind of features it's going to be hard to simulate F1 regulations really good

there are so many other cars (not mentioning other general stuff) that would make LFS much more good than a tow truck and a police car..

this is a racing sim

I hope the devs will never spend any time on doing this, instead of doing anything else, if I'm to be honest...

Quote from vicbel :I use Relax in Vista without having to run it on compatible mode.

thx, that keeps my hope alive

on the other hand will loose another hours trying to make it run again

EDIT: downloaded again, and it seems to work (with small configuration issues)

1. the res is doubled comparing to the original, it's 1024x1024 now, mind that this is the res of the whole car skin online
2. the images quality is ok, rather the size of the texture is a problem
3. of course it is flat, because the mesh is flat... it's a texture...

if you are using a large display with hi-res you possibly get a pixelation effect, i'm using it at 1280x800 on a laptop and it's ok, again: until the FXR gets a proper interior from the devs, because the default one was hurting my eyes

if anyone want's to go bigger and better just let me know, I can send the source .pspimage file, I just don't see any point in doing it for myself
alternate FXR interior

have a look at the screenshot and feel free to download if you like it
I'm not plannig to go any further, just made it for myself as a fast solution until the devs will provide a proper interior for FXR, but once it's ready why not sharing it..
the wheel texture is separate of course

what would be nice are some cars with good modern design, but not the "the Citroen gt interior in your uf1", that's for sure
let's wait and see how the Scirocco interior will be made like..
the design of the cars is probablly the weakest point in LFS, which is quite good in fact, as this means the more important points are it's stronger points
