Hi all, after a bit of searching, here and over the net, i tried to gather to information about gear ratio calibration. I'm using bob's project3 tool(it can't do goods without knowledge) to create my sets. However, i'm overwhelmed by the topic and i need a little help.
First, here's what i think i gathered.
Final drive ratio
You setup this last. This set your top speed.
Torque is what gets you going at low speed
You need to be at the top of the curve after a shift(ex from 3rd to 4th)
Power is what you need at high speed
You need to push your rev past the top of the power curve
The higher the gears, shorter the shifts will get
So if i'm right, there's a powerband you always want to be in i guess? So would it be between max torque and max power? Or Shoud it "bleed" from both sides?
So i guess i need to set the final gear to 1, set the first one to the lowest value that don't make me stall at first, then set the gear in between to stay in that powerband?
Thanx a bunch guys
Feel free to correct me!
On a side note - I know there are guides out there for that but i'm sure that a couple stikies in the setups section about differents aspects of a car setups would really help some guys that want to get into setups. I think this section is too often aimed at 1 car with 1 specific setup instead of general concept.
We could exchange about those topic instead "only reading them"

The curb feeling is also affected by the car you are using and how it's tuned. With this setup, i don't really feel the curbs in a RAC on westhill. With the same steering setup, i can really feel the curbs in a UFR on South City (insert track rev).
Well, that's what it doing for me.
Btw, the UFR is a really nice to drive!
Edit - to get a better feeling of the curbs, try lowering your momo control panel value(3 of them) and up your LFS setting(mine is at 137)
Ball Bearing Turbo, if you like the Guiness, you should try a black St-Ambroise. I think it's a bit tastier than a Guiness. You can get some in the province of Québec. It tastes like wonders after a hard day of work!
I finaly managed to configure Windows XP after a long break. Was too lazy to do so. Btw, boot camp work almost perfectly, be sure to have firmware update 1.1(?) and not SMC for it to work. Beside that small thing, it works great!
Anyway, i downloaded and installed it even tho i did'nt have my wheel. I'm away from home for work and i did'nt bring it. I had to drive with my mouse. And damn, i don't know how those can drive with a mouse for more than 15 minutes.
However, i must say it works great, it's just tiresome after a while.
Am i a big mouth or what!...
I runs constant between 50 and 60 fps, with a cap @ 60. 1440x900, 4x 4x, max details in LFS. Image is gorgeous!

I have to say it was offline racing without bots. I was racing alone.
I'm sure it's your Firewall. Whenever your firewall detect that an executable change, you need to tell him again that you authorise this app to access the network.
They do so to prenvent someone for modifying a legit app into a malicious one.
I think it's a good idea. Plus the winner will probably put alot of time into the skin so i think it's worth a license. He'll do a quality skin the devs will be using. Sounds fair to me.
Not everybody has time to learn all aspect of mecanics you can setup in lfs. Example, i can usually setups couple things right, but i've never managed to setup a good suspension... I don't understand enough how it work. Since it's such an important part of the setup, well you get the point.
You gotta love google, if i translate "Mahlzeit" in french, it give "flour". If i translate it in english, it give me "meal". Those two are related but in no way the same!
I don't know anything about racing, but it seems to me that even if the white guy was faster, he was'nt faster enough to pass the front one. Every time he tried to pass, he was always a bit short and could'nt do the move.
I may be wrong, but i don't think the other guy(i know he was not doing it) should let him pass.
