An old buddy from a car forum and I were bs'ing on AIM. He said that he was playing LFS. I enquired as to what it was. I downloaded the demo (Early S1) and immediately purchased s1 and s2. In turn, I purchased a Momo wheel, ACT labs shifter and pedals. Sadly, I used the shifter twice and the pedals less often than my Momo's. Then when the DFP came out, I bought that too... now they all sit and I use my kb and mouse.
I never really "raced". I, more often than not, would just drive around, seeing what I could and couldn't do. S2 came out and I got into drifting (EEK!). I've been pretty heavy into that since S2 came out and for some reason I joined FM's oval server two nights ago and I'm hooked on the BF1. So, out with the drifting...
First, the video request. Could someone fraps a replay of a draft on KY oval, A full lap of drafting please in the BF1.
And, for the question: If you're driving the BF1 with a shifter, can you skip gears through the gearbox? For instance, can you go from first to third? Not really important, just curious as to the realism with the BF1's gearbox and ability with a shifter.
Okay, so... I had been playing for a week or so and after a good 20 minutes of play my car would begin teleporting over to random parts of the tracks.
I just posted this thread to give a solution in case someone had the same problem. After going through every possible problem that it could be, it is your CPU. My CPU was overheating because dust had built up in the fans of my laptop. I cleaned them out and blammo. No more teleporting.
I just got back from the karts, figured I'd make a mock track to see (from above) where I was going wrong and what I could do to improve.
It's almost to scale (with the exception of the first turn, I made it wider to compensate for the handling and speed of the kart car.
*Warning* CR1.jpg is a screenshot of the overview. It is 1920 x 1200
Edit: Updated the first cornerr to sweep, added a full "pit". I don't know how to add the spawn point for the pit, can anyone shed some light?
I left it kind of "not much in it" because I'm not into the stickers and things. I figured a CF top half, and something small on the bottom would be suitible for me. I like it to the extent that the CF looks cool, and the blue contrasts the orange pretty well, but... there's different things I could do to improve the clean look.
It's a start. I figured out a lot about skinning just by doing this.
I decided to make a skin because my FZ5 was getting a bit bland.
I'm not much for stickers and stuff, but I threw in a little stripe. Being as I'm terrible, and by terrible I mean it took me like 2 hours just for the CF on the car, at Photoshop it took me quite some time.
I bought them from a member of these, or another LFS forum. Screws were all stripped out which causes the brake pedal to flex too much. Other than that they're a very nice set.
I enjoyed them for the few days I could stand the brake pedal. Now I'm using my mouse and KB.
