First of all thanks for your reactions. Some people claimed that they have never had this kind of problems, got me thinking something. Actually I've been thinking about this since I released the wreckers in S2. Where are those good drivers?
I remember the very first time I unlocked my S2. There were like, I don't know, over 400 servers. I was like "Oh wow so many options" but I was so wrong. Later days I released that nearly 300 of 400 are always empty! So I setup my server filter and the thing I saw was the awful truth! Without empty and pravite servers there are just 30-40 servers which I haven't seen a clean race at none of them. I guess the LFS world is like the real world, people only care about themselves and don't know there are the parts which make the main part. Don't know they are making it bad.
I really like this game. It's a better joy than many other sims IMO. I just wish it was like they told us..
Some of you might remind, I just got my S2 license 2 weeks ago. First of all I have to say S2 is a very good fun. I enjoyed all the racing I've done. It's been pretty good so far. But there's something pissing me off.
Before I buy my license all the people I know who have S2s told me that the S2 servers are full respectful drivers. Might not be professionals but at leats not like the ones in the demo servers. Of course there are some drivers like that but after 2 weeks with S2...eerm I can say this: There's nothing different than the demo servers There are only more cars, tracks and a bit faster drivers everything else is the same. I haven't joined a server which had no crash at corner #1. People using "bad" words ALL THE TIME.
Of course I wasn't that perfect eighter but I'm trying to be fair. Sometimes when somebody hits you and then says "you noob" you can get a bit angry and reply him/her in the same way etc.
If you don't want to read whole this thing, here's quickly what I mean: I just came from a place where the "noob" word is the most common but where I came it's worse..
Wait a second! Using slick tyres on road cars doesn't make them race cars! It's like putting slicks on a standart Megane II 1.6 and then saying "Now it's a race car". It's pretty meaningless. OK slicks would give much more grip but the grip isn't the only thing race cars about. What about downforce, engine, streering parts. Have they tyres got whole effect?
Some said in order to keep LFS a sim we shouldn't use this mod. Well racer friends, I can strongly say that the road cars are all about fun in LFS. Becuase if you think in hardcore-realism way you face the truth that: How come a car without rollcage and safe setup race in a track? Ohh but if you want to simulate road cars, you have to have real streets which means illegal street racing..
I support the idea of Vain. The cup versions of road cars would make LFS much more better. Then I can say it's "racing".
I got my Logitech DFP last year in September. I'm really happy with it. The quality, pedals...everything's pretty good. But I guess there's something worng about me. Or not. I don't know and I opened this topic to find out.
I'm so scared when I use my wheel usally. Because I'm afraid of making a damage on it. It's not only for DFP. I used to use a Microsoft Side Winder FF and I had the same fear. Why? Because the DFP is one of the most expensive things I've ever bought. It's a big issue. Like a diamond. You want to touch but you're afraid to break it.
So I never did "hard" to my DFP. Might seems ok but as I trying to use my wheel soft I guess I do it too soft. For example I don't turn the wheel fast. If I set it up to harder FF I don't even turn it in normal speed.
Maybe I should have asked this question before I buy my DFP.. I want to use it with the hardest FF and race like a maniac. Is it strong enough for that?
Of course I won't talk about the little bugs. There are really big things that need improvment. Seriously these things are kind a shame for a "game" like LFS. It's about realism and graphics.
1.Damage: This is something that I'd never call "simulated". Since the very first time I played LFS I find it so stupid and useless. LFS isn't a simulation in all parts because of that. Now can someone tell me why can't a bumper fall down? It's just and example but LFS has the worst damage model I have ever seen. It's both graphics and realism. Yes it is a shame. What kind of a sim have that? Why's that so unrealistic?
2. Car Graphics: LFS has superb graphics for a game that takes only 300MBs. All except the cars. Actually cars looks like taken from the NFS5 and put down to the NFS: Underground. They look like ages of older than the game. Especally when they get crashed. They need more pollys but most important the texturing and damage model really needs a serious imprevment.
Someone else will buy me an S2 licance. In the buying page there's a "S2 voucher" under the title "Buy LFS for some else". So what's that? And how it works?
These words just came up from my mouth when I played LFS after a long time (6 weeks) . I released that I missed the game so much. Yes I still love RBR more than LFS but it worths, yeah it worths the price. And actually I released something else too. The basic good of LFS: Makes you feel you're driving. Not racing. It's a real car under your control.
So I decided to buy an S2 licance. But I have to save up some money. It's kinda cool because till I got enough paper I'll have time for traning.
I've already have a wheel. Logitech DFP. I know all the good points of LFS. And no I'm scared of it. I can just buy it and start to learn madly but there's something doesn't let me that easy: I love rallying most
Although I find LFS as a great sim and like it much. I never sat down and spend hours on it. I play RBR and GPL most. I'm not good at LFS. I can't even control the basicist RWD car and I make bad lap times. I though buying the licance but I didn't think it's worth the paid.
I'm a total noob. I'm asking you the question: Is S2's price worth for me?
