It depends how you look at it. If you think LFS is too hard and not worth the bother, then no I don't think it's the sim for you. You'll buy it and never give it the time required to learn how to drive.
If on the other hand the fact that it's too hard is a CHALLENGE, then yes LFS is the sim for you. For your £24 you will buy into the development process, receiving all the patches and updates after that for FREE. You will have free online play, free stat recording, an awesome community (ignore me, I'm an anomoly), and all the help and technical advice you could ever wish for. On top of that you will NEVER master LFS -> there are 856 possible combinations of car and track, each one having it's own special requirements, and usually it's specialists. People here have been playing since the beginning of LFS over 3 years ago and most of them STILL haven't tried avery car/track combo, let alone set a competative time on every single one.
In short LFS is a massive game, and it's massive fun despite, perhaps because of, the advanced physics. It's addictive, hard, enjoyable, and in it's own way social. If you want a quick 5 lap race you can. If you want a longer race you usually can. If you want organised racing on a weekly schedule you can. If you just want to watch races or admin servers, then you can (though you'll have to be friendly with some server owners to become an admin).
If this sounds like the sort of thing your after - you could call it a MMORPG Racing Game - then buy it and you will NOT be disappointed.
