There are two reasons for administration. One is to teach ppl some respect and the other is to clean up a server so ppl can race/play properly. These bans are not for teaching but for cleaning up!
But personally I would like to take this one step further. You either qualify on the days assigned for it or you don't qualify at all. If you can't even be bothered to show up for the 2 days (4 blocks in total) that are supplied by the organizers... should you even bother at all?
The format for this qualy is obvious and it is supposed to be a race. I see no other way to join then to join when it is on. Anyone not able to show up on these two days cannot mix into the order that is established on these two days. They should only be allowed to race when there are still slots open and from the back...
Just keep in mind that when you've selected a car, in the garage in the steering menu you also have a wheelturn setting at the right of the screen. Don't adjust that one. If you are in a GTR it will be set to 540 but if you change that one to 720 you force the car to a default 720 making the steering way too indirect. Once you set the wheelturn in the control options you dont have to change it anymore. In the setup its just there for reference so you can see what wheelturn that car should sync to.
Atl east that what I figured was your initial error when you said you changed 540 to 720. That can only have been in the garage provided it was then synched to 720+
I was thinking it had to do with not phisically being in the scene but then I realized that when you look through a window at an interior you don't have this effect either.
The only, far fetched, reason I can think of is that we dont just measure distance by perspective but also by measuring the angle between both our eyes and the amount we have to focus to get it sharp. Because we don't have that info when we look at a computer screen our brains do not correct it.
I can think of an experiment with track IR. When it would be possible to blur the entire scene except for the 3d-object that is in the line of focus, maybe part of the illusion is restored.
It wouldnt help because most cars these days have a very different cockpit compared to the XR. I'm 6'6" tall and in most cars my line of sight is somewhere at the top lining of the windscreen
But stilll I was in error though. Applying some geometry on the XR (pencil and printscreen of the XR side view) learned that it is in the proper position but the XR has a relatively high cut windscreen so there is quite a slab of glass above the mirror which was what gave me the idea the positioning was wrong.
Anyway, just to get that out of the way. It's not related to the patch.
After doing some comparisons with Y24 it seems its more the shape. It did end up lower then before but the hight makes the difference.
I tested in on "the corkscrew" at Aston and whole cars fit behind it that you only notice after reaching the bottom. I would say the lowest possible verticaloffset setting should be what the highest is now.
Someone I was online with had the same problem but after reconnecting with the server it was ok again. But for me nothing would accomplish that. I took the install from another computer and replaced all data exept the texture dirs and replay dirs and patched that. Now everything is fine.
EDIT: The guy I was talking about did not have the same problems as me!
Just join the Race 1 server. You don't need a license there, in fact you acquire one there.
Be prepared though. It aint the Gentlemen's Drivers Club for sure but that will get prolly much better when you got a Silver License so you can get away from there.
One thing though and it's not a small one! The view setting are fun but not when your using pov hat. I'm basicly driving blind. The 45 degree angles are useless because they dont give any extra visibility but the only important view, the 90 degree view, is now gone.
I would like to point out that this is not a small problem. Basicly the viewbuttons have now become arbitrary features
From what I understand you need bulk in the nose section of the following car. You need to fill up that area behind the leading car where normally the airflows meet after being split by that car.
Push-draft is a matter of filling up that area behind the leading car so that the airflow doesn't implode but carries on over the second car. To do that you simply need bulk, volume. A single seater's thin nose section may still split the airflow but by the time it does the turbulence has long since done the damage. Therefor only the second car benefits (mostly).
I have no experience with motorbikes, but considering their bulky front shape, in theory it would have to work.
From what I understand, Stock-cars are designed in the wind tunnel to support push-draft as much as possible. So in NASCAR the effect is stronger then in a normal tin top.
The starters server is a bit of a confusion at the moment though. It started off with BF1 as way to keep the noobs away from the Junkies server but at some point it switched to GTR and stayed that way. It will be fixed though because the naming is confusing.
I don't like to get too much into rules and strategies but I think it is at the least fair to give some indication of what this is about.
First of all: forget everything (almost) you learned about racing. That includes NASCAR, INDY and other oval classes you know of. The way we race on the FM-Oval servers is forced by LFS's aerodynamic modeling which causes a too strong drag reduction when drafting and not enough fall off when leaving the draft. It allows you too clearly overtake the car in front of you, something that, at least to my knowledge, happens in NASCAR but the gain isn't even close so it is almost never used. On the FM-oval it is the only way to win.
So, you need to cooperate to win. Not doing so, or not knowing how to do so, gets you either ditched or caught. Blocking cars that are drafting you is THE way to get banned and not knowing when to overtake is the same as not drafting at all. It'll take a while to learn.
When you need help or answers, you can always join the junkies server when we're there. Just don't expect easy answers because even we still differ in opinion about the best course of action in some specific situations. It's got a lot to do with feeling.
