I thought it went well. It was great fun. I was looking for some sort of single-seater series and this certainly hit the spot.

I don't have any particular suggestions, since the races were a good length, rules were good, penalties seemed fair, overall great fun and thanks to all those who made it happen

Hi the_alchemist! I started on LFS with the same laptop-type setup and I know EXACTLY how you feel!

Anwyay, based on your stats (if you haven't seen them, click on the little stopwatch under your post count), I would say the AA Demo servers are a good place to run some laps and get some good practice

However, practice will get you a few more seconds off your time, but if you happen to be running the default setup, it will be near impossible to get really fast times. So, don't get discouraged if you plateau at one point and can't improve.

If you feel you want to try new setups, go on www.setupgrid.net and download a few there. In the grid find either FBM/XFG/XRG @ BL1 (game codes for the cars, and Blackwood respectively).

Simply download and the file should automatically go to your setup folder, and will be available to you in the game when you go to "Pits"/car setup screen (setups are listed on the top-right corner).

Hope it helps, and happy racing! Always great to have new faces!

I have never seen this before. Near the end of my 27th lap (in the chicane before the S/F line), my car randomly darts to the right and spins out. Not from any kind of driver error, but almost from some strange lag.

It happened to me twice. Once there, and once in T2, lap 9. The car just changes direction on it's own and I take a trip through the grass. Between the two spins I lost about 15 seconds and it was a bit frustrating. If you watch the replay you'll see what I mean.

What causes that? Anyone had that happen to them before?

Quote from Bmxtwins :I just asked Dom and he said that you can't overtake before s/f line because its in the sporting code. Unless I am confused

I believe that is true for restarts...

As long as you do 1 lap. It can be any lap.

Quote from CSF :As 88 won't be driving, Angry Angus is called up for qualifying.

Understood. We will have a driver ready for qualifying.

Quote from Intrex1020 :on Friday quali need to drive same driver like in pre quali?

No.

- The driver who Pre-Qualified for your team must be a confirmed driver. But he does not necessarily have to qualify, or race.

- The driver who Qualifies can be a different confirmed driver on the team, but he also must race at least 1 lap during the race.

Welcome to LFS, fellow Canuck We are a rare breed here compared to all these europeans!

As a Canadian, I was still able to find some fantastic servers and leagues to race on even with the time shift (it is especially easy over the weekends).

LFS still has a few unique features that other online-based games do not have (therefore keeping the game relevant despite the wait for the S3 release), like the ability to do driver swapping for endurance events (I ran a 24-hour enduro in January with 5 other guys.. great fun and definetly unique!), and also it's straight-forwardness and affordability compared to some games which require monthly payments.

Also with the S2 lisence, there are lots of new avenues to explore in the game

Feel free to PM me anytime!

Also, I suggest looking at Absolute-Beginners. There are all sorts of leagues going there. The cars and tracks switch from round to round, so maybe wait for one that you are comfortable on and give it a try! They are really nice guys!

The game has many layers.... many of which are not very apparent for a new user...

- There are the demo servers for the cruisers/recreational racers. Those are almost always filled with 8-12 cars.

- There are other open race servers like cargame.nl (brilliant fun by the way) with ~10 minute races that are full (32 cars... in every class imaginable) all weeknights and weekends.

- Other stuff like drift servers and rallyx have occasional crowds. You just have to know WHEN to log on. Want it or not, this is a game with a lot of europeans... so when it's evening/weekends there is the best time to log on.

- Then after that there are leagues. Plenty of them. Just dig around the forum and you will find leagues for newbies (with basically no experience needed) to some very competitive stuff.

- There is even Enduro races. Example: Masters of Endurance is a 24-hour event for teams usually run in January..... the Kyoto 16 hours in October..... New Dimension Racing even has an enduro LEAGUE (GT2 World Series) for 3 and 6 hour races. Several others exist. That was just 3 examples.

There is still plenty of stuff to keep people busy. It just takes a while to find the right league or server

what I think...

- I like that top 30 make the field, no silly rules
- I like that Pro/Am run the same servers
- I like that there is still an overall championship.... as I will simply be ignoring the Pro/Am points.
- I liked the 2011 Pre-Qualifying system and hope it is the same for 2012!
- I like that we run 6 events on 6 different tracks. Variety is nice.
- I LOVE the fact that the competition was hard but clean in 2011.... for the most part anyway

Overall... this is BY MILES my favorite series in LFS.

I want to mention I really like the spaced out schedule. It gives everyone plenty of time to get ready for the events.
