So, in context all I meant was that I'm capable of defending myself against harrassment. (And yes, I do appreciate there are others who do need protected by moderators)
Becky - Sorry your thread went OT, but since James' punishment was declared publicly, I felt the ensuing discussion should be public as well.
[OT]I appreciate your input, but you seem to be addressing points I never made. Not once have I suggested I should be able to do whatever I like on this forum. I've been around long enough to know who runs this forum, and how it is run. There are many forms of harrassment that take place almost daily here, but most get overlooked because of who is doing the harrassing. One only has to look at the responses to any poor unfortunate new user that has neglected to use the search facility before posting. A bit of consistency and even-handedness would go a long way.[/OT]
Ok, this may be an 'infraction', but I have to ask - did you read the threads where several of us tried (for many, many hours) to help Faster with his graphics problems? In my view he abused us.
I'm not saying he deserves to be bullied - that's totally wrong - but to punish James for something that could fall into the category of 'fair comment' could be construed as a degree of bullying in itself.
I can understand your frustration. A while back on the CRC support forum he was quoting you, and it was your word that was gospel! He seems to latch on to whatever suggestion suits him at a particular moment in time, then gets cheeky when others try to help.
At the end of the day, he's really listened to no-one. I tried to help him as well, but he's the most uncooperative, ungrateful little oik I've ever encountered.
Faster - this is exactly what I, and others, told you repeatedly on the CRC forum (and in the shoutbox).
It's what people have been saying for weeks now, but still you won't help them to help you.
I used to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I'm becoming more and more convinced you're just taking the pi$$.
I actually support the idea of the separate forum.
I've developed software successfully for many, many years. Not that it's any of your business.
Why do you feel the need to get personal?
If you'd care to read my post again, you'll see that I was largely agreeing with you, although with the caveat that we should try to avoid deterring new players.
But don't let that get in the way of a good hissy fit.
With the recent 'let's have an uber-patch-testing team' and now a 'let's discourage new LFS'ers from posting proposal, this forum is in danger of becoming a tad too precious about itself.
So what if a new player complains about being banned? One post to point them in the direction of the server admin, along with some polite info about what to do if it should happen again, should be enough.
So what if a new player hasn't searched for a previous answer? If you don't want to answer their question, don't post.
Don't like the thread subject-matter? Think it's been said many times before? Don't read the thread!
