Quote from RaginViper :i have to agree that a proper automatic would be great to have here, but i also agree that it would be to troublesome to code. On the other hand, a PROPER auto is actually faster than any standard. An auto can shift faster than a human.

You've never used a Speco straight shifter then?
Bangs through the gears faster than any other manual shifter I have ever used, will beat all but the newest auto boxes with ease.
#note# It can also kill most manual boxes faster than flat shifting with no clutch though.

Keling is right though, do we really need an auto?
There is already an auto shift option, use that.
IF you can't drive "stick" as the US says.

Actually, LazLow is pretty close to right.
The human eye can see but can't discern those framerates.
Anything between 30 to 35 FPS is good to "see" smooth motion. Motion pictures are run at about 35fps.

Therefore, unless you are getting below 30fps, there is nothing to worry about.

Quote from damonchoy :... where I don't have to race?

What I mean by this is that I'm wondering if there's a server where you can just cruise around the track with some people... where it's not competitive. If so, how do I join it and can I join it when I only have the demo version?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Yep, open multi player mode and go to ANY server marked as cruise.

Not entirely sure, but I think most drifters use LFSTweak to add more steering lock to cars they use.
Probably a few other handling tweaks as well, as for a Drift Edition?

There is only LFS S2 downloadable from the web site, the rest is up to you to tweak and mod it to your needs.

They are tiny files, just a few pixels square, not a lot to edit.
Certainly not like editing a full skin.

Thanks Nicce, hadn't seen X_windowALPHA.dds, better add that to my edit list as well.
Copper red windows, nice.

Vortech, thanks for the link, downloading that file now.

I think you would need to edit some .dds files.

Files to edit are:-

rearscreenALPHA.dds
s_glassALPHA.dds
s_LX_winALPHA.dds
s_UF_headALPHA.dds
s_UF_winALPHA.dds
s_windowALPHA.dds
s_windxrALPHA.dds

These files are found in data\dds folder, edit with paintdotnet or similar application that handles .dds files.
Changing hue and saturation should do the trick for you.
This info was gleaned by checking inside an old custom window mod.

Tread is the correct term for the road contact surface of a tyre.
This holds true whether great chunky earthmover tyres or smooth slicks for racing.
Speaking as a one time employee of "Banglop" erm sorry, Dunlop, the formal term for the construction of the "bands" or "plies", whether steel or poly is chords.
Don't trust all google tells you lol.

My how times change eh?

That was one of the best all round tracks in SA during the 1960's then in the early 70's Mitsubishi bought it and closed it down to use as a secret test facility, built those high embankments and wouldn't let anybody near the place for decades.

Good to see it's back in use as it should be again.
Have fun there Mick.

Hey Mick, when did they open the track at tailem bend?
When I lived there a few years ago Mitsubishi were still all annal about it and wouldn't allow the public near the place.

Incorrect assumption AndreNZ, wasn't me who started this thread, and I actually think it's a stupid idea to squander already stretched dev resources on electric simulated vehicles in this sim.

As for all the rest, it's pretty annoying to see personal rants hijacking any thread, not just this one.

HEY, YOU TWO, take this out into the damned carpark.

You have ranted about Nuke power for long enough, hijacking a thread about simulated electric cars in LFS. Now give us all a bloody rest!

Quote from lap traffic nz :WTF does all this crap have to do with putting upsized RC cars into LFS?

Beat me to it, I was about to say this thread seems to have been hijacked by "Nuke Experts"

As for electric cars?
Erm, this is a computer simulation, computers run on electrical currents zooming all over the circuitry, therefor, in that respect "ALL" cars in LFS are already electric.

Sits back and waits for the flames.

It should've been less minimal, I'm actually interested in 2nd 3rd place now.

Double check the settings PSP is using for saving .jpg maybe?
Personally I use Gimp and have no problems (apart from being a lousy artist that is), even Paintdotnet does a good job and can open, edit and save in .dds format. Even better, both of those applications are free, granted Gimp does have a "quirky" interface and takes a little getting used to, but it can open, edit and save to PSD files too.

Might also be something to do with your screen resolution, but not likely in these days of advanced GPU's and tons of VRAM.

Clan? Guild?
This isn't some role playing gamelike WOW
Those guys may have been in some race team, maybe.

But that being said, I do agree that there are some real "tools" on some of the cruise servers, that's why I, and most serious racers, avoid them like the plague.

Do like Silver said, find a server with a better group of people.

Good luck with LFS, if you really like racing, you will love LFS.

Quote from RiseAgainstMe! :what happened with that marshall they had to stop the race for? They said he was badly hurt.

... I hope he's ok, whatever it was.

He wasn't hit by a car, that's for sure, those marshal posts are well behind the safety walls.
As for the fire, could have been much worse if not for the fire crews at the marshals posts, beers all round for the firey's.
Two fires in one season isn't that big a deal really, seen worse during my time on track years ago.
I actually raced on that track on sidecars before all those new fangled safety fences were installed, the top of that mountain was terrifying if you got it wrong back then.

And yes, exciting finish, first time in around 30 years a rookie has stood on the winners podium, he had one of the best lead drivers to learn from too.

Isn't there already some kind of game like that?
Called, NEED for something?

Anyway, as for night driving, I remember a night mod made for an earlier version of LFS. Not sure if it has been updated to work with 0.6b.
Me? I'm a Luddite, I love LFS just as it is.
Looking forward to seeing S3 out like all others here of course, but I can wait patiently while the crew get it nice and right for us.

That seems to me as though your graphics card 3D engine is about to have a heart attack. A similar thing happened to me with my old AGP NV5500 card a couple of years ago.
To check, try any other 3D intensive application you may have, if the same or similar happens, it may be time to invest in another graphics card.
It may also be that the fan on your graphics card is dieing and the chip is overheating, in that case, a new fan would save the day at a lot cheaper cost to you.
Hope this helps

Hey Savage, you spelled this wrong too mate.

"Vauxhall VXR8
Vauxhall Monaro
Vauxhall Monaro VXR"

It's actually spelled "Holden"

But don't worry, the yanks got the spelling wrong too, they spell it Pontiac"
