Oh I understand now. Well it's working flawlessly for me at the moment. Thanks again! I'll let you know if I run into anything.
By the way, you can override the decimal bug by simply copying/pasting the desired decimal value from another source. (The comments box works great for this)
Yeah this is right. Many modern signals still have optical sensors, but emergency units have a special light frequency emitter that is pretty much the only frequency that will change the lights. Someone was selling these units on eBay a while ago actually. Hehe.
Yeah I guess that's similar to the problems I ran into. Too many things you needed to know already. I guess a good tutorial would be one in which you are guided step-by-step from modeling a simple object, to texturing, to lighting. Maybe one such as that doesn't exist and I should just involve myself in the damn program.
This thread is really cool to me. Didn't know we had so many skilled modelers here. I have to ask you guys for your help!
I've wanted to get into 3D modeling off and on for years now, but every time I install 3DSMAX and try to learn it, I just get turned off by the complexity and all the new concepts and terms to learn. I'm fairly good with 2D graphics programs, so I figure I can learn 3D semi-easily, but no dice.
So...could anyone reccomend some good tutorials that are actually helpful? I would really appreciate it!
Recently, I've become interested in how tire manufacturers design tire treads. It's interesting to me how precisely changing the design of the grooves in street tires can add or take away grip, along with the type and grade of the rubber compound of course.
Does anyone have any resources where I can read up on this subject? I've looked on howstuffworks.com, but they don't go very in-depth with their tire article. Thanks!
Ok, I just have to point out that I find it funny how you mentioned LFS as being a sim in point 1, then in point 3 you go ahead and call it a game twice.
Point being, just relax (that includes all of you who get technical with the genre of LFS). Game or sim, who care? Just drive!
OK THX 4 TEH RESPONSE BUT I WISH I CULD HAVE CARPET TAHT IZ LIKE 900,000 x 900,000 meters WITH LIKE 40,000 PILE AND KEWL STUF LIEK THAT!!!11!111!!1one1!!eleven!111
Maybe he was doing an engine replacement and that one had problems anyway. Nobody knows anything about the freakin video. I really doubt anyone would destroy an engine for shits and giggles.
I'll add my 2 <unit of coined money> here. I don't like the fact that you can be going top speed in a high gear, and downshift like 2 gears down and the rev limiter will still somehow stop the revs from climbing. If I'm going 130mph in 5th gear and I downshift to 3rd, I want my engine to disintegrate into a pile of molten ash, dammit!
Yeah I did use a lot of cones in some places. The reason being is when I went through it with less cones, I found you could get lost and confused sort of easily. I had to use more cones to fill in spaces and create walls so you could see better. Glad you like it though!
Personally, I'd like to see an extremely long straightaway. Not only would it be fun to hit maximum high speeds, but sometimes when I get bored, I go to the dragstrip and pretend I'm driving on the street - with AI cars being regular people driving along (think GTI vs. FZR). Then I watch the replays and see how insanely quick I accelerate past them or how big of a lead I can catch them on. Good fun. (Oh, and forget I said this, but a straightaway would be PERFECT for playing with LFSTweak) :shhh:
So, some of you guys were interested in some more pure autocross tracks. Well, I've made another one for you all. This time around, it's totally from my own head and not based on anything.
This course is more high-speed oriented than the last, but it's also a bit longer, so it takes around the same time to complete in a UFR. Also, I have widened the cone spread to accomodate the larger cars, although an autocross is still the most fun with small, nimble bastards.
The wood trim on these super sports cars bothered me since day one, so I decided to make a carbon fiber skin to replace the door, center console, and glove compartment trim. I'm not a pro, but I think it came out ok! Enjoy, and tell me what you think!
These 2 files go into your data/dds folder. REMEMBER TO CREATE BACKUPS OF THE OLD FILES!
UPDATE: So I liked the carbon fiber look, but I started to really hate the door when I had to keep looking at it. Soooo I replaced it with the door from a Porsche 996 GT2, carbon fiber armrest and all! Check out the new pictures below.
