I was on an autocross server, and if two people tried to join at the same time, they would be intersecting each other. It happened to me once, and when the start lights hit green, I got rocketed out at warp speed, reaching an indicated 200+ mph in less than 1 second in my little GTi. Haha, that was quite fun really.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Well the worst you'll find here in York is petty criminal smackhead beggars, although we did have a rather exciting double murder literally across the street from me a couple of years ago - only discovered a couple of weeks later when rancid stinky human flesh ooze started seeping through the ceiling of the bakery below!

I love a good stinky flesh ooze sandwich. Shame they had to clean that up.

Manchester's a different story. My Mancunian business partner had his 350Z nicked from outside his house last winter. When the cops found it they couldn't return it as it was being held as evidence in a murder enquiry. When he finally got it back he spent the next several weeks picking machine gun shell casings out of it.

He's had his house turned over a few times in the past, and once confronted the burglars (in the nude!) and fought them off, but now he's been done over by guys with machine guns he's hoping they only come back when he's out.

Sounds like this guy can't catch a break! Sure he doesn't have a "rob me" sign on his door?

Quote from thisnameistaken :Yeah I used to know a kid from Inglewood, and he had some pretty insane stories to tell. I met him in NJ, where he'd been evacuated to his uncle's house to keep him out of the gang scene.

I actually used to feel safer in places like New York and Newark than I did in my home town in Yorkshire, but maybe ignorance is bliss

Yeah, I felt fine in York, Manchester, and London when I went. I know nothing of the crime there, but maybe I'm in the same boat as you with the ignorance thing?

Quote from thisnameistaken :I'm like the Womble of the LFS forums.

My apologies to everybody outside the UK or under the age of 30 who doesn't know what the Wombles are.

I just checked out that website and noticed a banner that said "UK street gangs: Could you cut it in South Central LA?"

I just wanted to answer this question with a HUGE NO. We have some crazy MFs in the States. Oh, and lots of guns.

I'm pretty sure all of those answers are correct. It's not entirely related to the thread, I'll grant you, but I enjoyed it.

Excellent use of a hijack opportunity by the way. You took an otherwise defunct thread and turned it into something worthwhile. Haha, good times.

Well, shame on me. I guess when I tooled with my settings last, I indeed accidentally put LFS on 16-bit color mode instead of 32-bit. Thanks for the help anyhow.

Quote from Tweaker :That's wierd.. because only 16-bit color would do this for my computer at least. But if you are on 32-bit in the game, I'm not sure.... maybe turn on/off the Dither option or something.

Dither doesn't change it unfortunately.
Pink border around laid down rubber?

*FIXED*

As you can see in the following screen shot, my racing line rubber is bordered by an odd pink line. This happen to anyone else? I'm on 32 bit color, and I can't think of another reason why there would be such a strange color occurence there unless it's just the way it is in-game. Any thoughts?

Edit: Added high contrast picture so the lines are easier to spot. You can see there is also a green line in there as well! It's quite annoying seeing pink/green lines on the track all the time.

Yet another thread hijacked by people promoting their own stuff. Why does this happen? Jeez.

Seems many other competing sims have more overall features than LFS, but LFS still comes out on top (at least for me). Goes to show that more features doesn't equal a better game.

Thanks for these test patches. It's really nice to be able to change the single seater dashes separately. The blue alphanumerics on the F08 were much too difficult to read for me.

I also have a suggestion. Would it be possible to have the rev counter on the FOX increase pixel-by-pixel instead of in 1000 RPM stages? It would really help in anticipating shift points instead of waiting for that light.

Quote from danowat :I definatly need more pressure now than before..

Before the patch I was happily lapping KY Nat at sub 2:00 times in the FXO with quite low (20psi) pressures, now with the patch I couldnt even get close with the same set, I need to get up to 30psi before I could start to lap the same times.

I think that the tyre pressures are now more realistic, my road car needs upwards of 32psi (40 profile tyres)

Dan,

Maybe that means they got the extremes worked out, which is good, but 30 psi is still quite low for racing road tires!

*BUMP*

I just wanted to bump this thread back up again now that the new patch is out. I haven't done much extensive testing, but a few passing tests have led me to believe that the tires act pretty much the same way as before. I get bad understeer with ~40 psi in road tires and I feel much more in control if I drop it to below 30. Still is a bit odd to me. I cannot really feel any decent rigidity out of high pressure tires...just a nice plow!

Anyone have any additional comments after patch T has come out?

Quote from jayhawk :I will probably get tomato(e)s thrown at me, but the BF1 is FAR easier to drive than the F08. Went ten laps around BLackwood and only spun out once. With the F08 I would spin out ten times in one lap!

Difference? Traction control!

Overall, I'm REALLY enjoying the new tire physics. I have to agree with some of you about the odd, slow, easy drifting that can be induced. Maybe it is more real and we're just not used to it, who knows.

As for any definite problems, the RAC and especially the FZ50 still drive pretty badly whereas the other road cars had a much more noticeable improvement in my eyes. I still feel like the FZ is just a giant pig! Wheel response is so slow and cumbersome, it feels as if the car weights 5000 pounds! This is definitely not how a sports car should handle. There just has to be something fundamentally wrong with that car's simulated physical/mechanical makeup or something.

The road tires feel subtly better...just enough so that cars are now more realistically controllable. The slicks are just out of this world though! I love them! You can feel them clawing into the road and the UFR feels like a freaking kart! Not to mention what an awesome feeling it is to pull 4+ Gs in the BF1!

Here is the official story:

Scavier: "Yo, Bimmer, I need that fly ass whip right there"
BMW: "Aight"
Scavier: (To LFS community) "Ay, check dis. We got this new thang right here, dawg. Fast as hell, yo."
LFS Community: "Oh snap son!"

Quote from thisnameistaken :Scawen: Do you fancy telling us a bit more about this agreement you've got going with BMW Sauber F1? Are you supplying something for their theme park ride thingy as the speculation suggests? I'm sure we'd all love to hear more about it.

They'll probably spill the beans after tha patch is released. It's too freaking cool to remain tight lipped, that's for sure.
