Ive been around LFS since the very first demo and each successive physics update improved the game IMO as I was always most interested in the racing and managing the fuel and tyres etc.

Ive gone away from LFS in the last year because of lack of updates and have been focusing on rFactor in the FSR World Championship league. Only problem with FSR is the lack of pickup races (none) Since getting my G25 I came back to LFS for a bit pickup racing and absolutely loved battling with 30 guys on the fox junkies server. Great for honing wheel to wheel skills. That is the core strength of LFS. Ive never driven an online sim with such close clean, competetive pickup races with the same amount of drivers. Thats the thing that will keep me as a customer.

FWIW I dont think working for months on a physics only update is a good idea, I think Scawen should spend longer creating or chasing some more licensed content (cars and tracks) and incorporate the new physics all together in an S3 that is another pay update.

Ive just started driving rFactor for the CTDP mod in which Ill be driving in the FSR championships this year.

Have to say, compared to LFS, Im very disappointed at the online pickup race situation. There is way too much diversity in terms of different versions of the same track, different versions of the same series (ive seen numerous F1 mods). I havnt yet managed to find an online pickup race for the supposed best mod (CTDP) which im massively disapointed with.

LFS is way better on the pickup online race front.

Quote from George Kuyumji :I know when people read the word "mod" they think about the rFactor mod situation with thousands of mod out there one worse then the other.

But there are some modding groups (idt for rfactor or GPLEA for GPL) that can really produce excellent work that even tops the work of the professionells. That dont bring out a new version of there content every couple of weeks that dillute and make everything complicated.

What these groups like GPLEA did was kind of a "controlled modding" where quality stands over quantity.

There is alot of talent out there in the LFS community and it is wasted, think about the Nürburgring Nordschleife or Spa in rFactor, done by hugely talented enthusiasts in the community, talent that LFS has aswell, and all these tracks rFactor has LFS could have aswell, maybe in even better quality.

But the danger is allowing thousands of people and giving the tools to them to create tracks in LFS, we would have very quickly 5 different versions of Monte Carlo, 3 versions of Spa etc. LFS would be a mess like rFactor.

But what if there would be only 1 add on Team in the community. Only that one team would get unofficial support and the tools to create tracks for LFS.

That exclusive modding Team would consist of the brightest, most talented hand-picked artists from within the community, who only produce quality content for LFS, mainly tracks. There is enough talent out there to produce any type of track in the world for LFS in brilliant quality, if its done in an organized, protected and quality assuring way.

Im all for it George, some excellent work was done by the GPLEA down the years making it unrecognisable for the better.

In the absence of any obvious forward direction for LFS I think an LFSEA that submits work to Scawen for release and continuity with the existing game would be amazing.

I just got kicked from Redline Racing server in the BF1 at So Town due to CPW and now the host is refusing connection.

This is the first time ive ever seen this error code. Im aware its anti-cheat but Ive never changed anything and there hasnt been a new patch out this year.

Any ideas whats up?

I think it should be a server option that enforces an "off the forecourt" setup where you are still allowed to turn the TC and ESP (if it has it) on or off as you would in the real car.

Will the car have ESP and independant wheel ABS braking/diff control like in the road car?

Dont think it should be enforced for use across the entire game. It would kill the longetivity of the car. Having to put up with a car that doesnt suit your style can make racing very boring.

Considering the cost, physics, size of development team I am extremely satisfied. Best computer game/sim Ive ever owned

Its not perfect as a polished 'game' but if thats your priority no.1 go play Gran Turismo.

I like both but considering LFS to this day has cost me £15 less than the original gran turismo I bought 10 yrs ago on my PS1 its an absolute bargain (wow 10 years ago!).

If youre not happy with the rate of development go play something else or make your own sim. Whats that? You cant? Not easy is it.

Keep it up Scawen

Key to being quick in FBM is how you come off the brakes rather than how late you brake.

I find that coming off the brakes gradually all the way up to the apex provides the car with alot more turn in grip. The tyre are small compared to the FOX and are easily overloaded so you have to be gentler and more progressive. This allows you to get back on the power sooner (also being gradual) and get maximum exit speed.

Binding it is accepting you regularly cause accidents.

I think its more acceptable to slow up and type something then carry on. It at least makes it look like you didnt take advantage from a misdemeanor.

Quote from DarkTimes :In terms of the Glock conspiracy, Trulli also stayed out on dry tyres and did a final lap of 1:44.80, to Glock's 1:44.7. So unless Trulli was in on the conspiracy as well, I think it's safe to say that it's just hard to drive a groove-tyred car on a damp track, and leave it at that.

Exactly.

It is worth noting however that even tho they did the same laptime Glock was about 1s faster in sector 1 and 2 yet 3s slower than trulli in the last sector but this was obviously down to being compromised as about 4 cars passed him in 2 corners aswell as the rain coming down even heavier than before.

Quote from Hockquan : it just so happens that the risk he took didn't pay off and it gifted Lewis the championship.

It really didnt.

Had glock changed tyres in sequence with the rest of the front runners he would have been behind Lewis well before the final lap.

Glocks gamble almost gifted the title to Massa I think you'll find.

Quote from boosterfire :Bloody hell, I was so thrilled. I mean, I wouldn't have picked Massa if I had a choice, but for some reason I can't support Hamilton and just chose to cheer for whatever competition he might have. I really wanted to kill Glock right there on the spot. I mean, even with bloody dry tires, how can you be so slow? It wasn't yet huge rain, and the track seemed still mostly dry to me (or at least not totally wet). And he did what... 20, 30 seconds worse than Hamilton and Vettel on that lap? Come on

Youre blinded, mate.

Glock's dry tyres were DEAD and the rain was coming down harder and harder. Lewis went past him like he was stood still AS DID THE WILLIAMS UNLAPPING ITSELF STRAIGHT AFTER LEWIS. That Toyota had no grip left. You are clutching at straws.

Massa drove a great race, his best of the year, but it made no difference in the end.

Lets just all accept this amazing title decider as it was. It was amazing drama. Up there with the Nadal/Federer final this year at wimbledon. One of the greatest moments in modern sport as far as Im concerned let alone F1.

Nvidia Quadro FX3500 in a Dell Precision M90 workstation laptop.

Not designed as a gaming card but it's amazing for LFS.
Nvidia Powermizer

Had a strange FPS issue with LFS on my Dell M90 laptop last night - dropped from solid v-synced 100fps to 40 at best and 5fps at race start online! Changed all screen settings and graphics but to no avail.

Wondered if it was graphics drivers so did a re-install. Still the same.

Nvidia Quadro FX3500 was operating fine.

Id been using the laptop on batteries on the train beforehand and wondered if it'd been damaged or something.

Did some online searching and found that there is an Nvidia power conservation setting called Powermizer. Went through Nvidia settings and found it was turned on. Turning it off restored the graphics back to full power and all was fine again.

I didnt turn the setting on and can only assume it turned itself on when using batteries to prolong battery life. Just read up on powermizer ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/feature_powermizer.html ) and it says it "automatically adjusts gpu so the user will not notice". Iv just put that claim to bed.

Just thought Id post here if people ever experience similar laptop performance issues.

Quote from keithano :Definitely. I remember every detail before my crash...

It's a club race.. nothing international. I attended the race as usual with my team, prepared it pretty well. Have had several practices before the race to ensure my kart is in perfect shape as well as my status. First practice of the race day, it's around 9am in the morning. I went several laps. Then on the longest straight of the track, which you can flat out at about 130 km/h to make T1 (no need to lift off the throttle), I turned my steering wheel, aiming at the apex. All of a sudden, I realized that my front wheels doesn't turn despite the fact that I've turned my steering wheel. I knew that I was . Things and time became to slow down.. At that moment I can think of so many things, but I just can't do anything other than stepping on the brake. However, it's too late, and actually impossible as there is no run off area, just a tire wall. I crashed straight to the tire wall at the highest speed possible, been thrown high up to the air. The people told me that I was like over 10 feet high on the air..seriously. Then my head hit on the ground. I was fallen onto the middle of the track (it's the track after T2, which is a 180 degree corner). At that moment, I can still get up, slowly walked to the grass near by. Then, some white color started to fill up my eye, it's like I am turning to blind.. Then I can't see anything, but still conscious. Just several seconds after that, it's like all of my stamina is gone, and I fell onto the ground unconscious.

I was diagnosed of having cerebral concussion, fracture of several metacarpal bones, etc etc.

I am very lucky to be alive.. A great helmet for the win.

F! Man, you are lucky to be with us still by the sounds of that mate! Welcome back, Im sure you'll be back up to speed soon!

Lewis' extra stop to change his flat spotted tyres and the drive thru for T1 meant that he would have lost all those positions again anyway.

The spin itself cost Lewis about 10, 15s at most. The subsequent damage to the aero cost alot more, probably 0.5s a lap at a guess judging from his race pace after that.

Worst case scenario it cost him 45s IMO. Enough to get him up to 6th

I was really impressed with the production guys! I honestly think Mp3 could be a TV commentator.

Didnt watch the whole thing but from what I did see a few more onboards wouldnt have gone a miss.

Great win for Wisniewski. Hopefully I can put a stop to his dominance at the next round at AS North We had an epic battle on the reverse config until I binned it from the lead. Wis repaid the favour at FE Black though where I secured my first win. Hopefully we can have a fight and both finish this time
