Quote from Goop :Totally agree, I'm picking up discrepencies and slight bumps in the track surface that I never knew were there This is my third wheel (Thrustmaster Ferrari, Logi Momo) and it blows me away how good and smooth it is - I'm breaking PBs all over the place, and I'm finding I have a lot more confidence in the open wheelers, particularly the FO8:lovies3d:

I'm not having any issues with the pedals, tho, besides having to relearn how to brake. And, tbh, the shifter is fine for my purposes. Ok, so it's a little dinky, but it does the trick :cyclops:

So you think this wheel works well with the F08, how about the FOX? I usually drive the fox, love the f08 (wish there were more servers using it) and I autoX when I can on LFS, but I'm not sure how much the wheel will benifit the open wheels. Its encouraging to see you think it helps. I've got the Logi Momo now and am torn about buying the g25. Is it really THAT much better?

Well I'm trying to look at more than just the 900d rotation

The FF seems better, the wheel is larger, and the pedals have a much better feel from what I understand. I suppose I could mod my current pedals but I'm still left with the smaller wheel with "bad" FF. I would like the shifter too for autoX-ing, that would be much more realistic

My wheel has also been giving me issues (FF racks back and forth even going straight)

Ugh, i'm stuck right in the middle, can't seem to decide either way!
Do I really NEED a g25 (serious question inside....)

Right now I'm using a Logi momo force.
I mainly drive the open wheel cars (fox for the most part) and do autoX as well (with a handful of diff. cars). Right now my wheel turn is set to 455 and wheel turn comp at 0.75 in LFS. I'm not a huge fan of having to saw around with the wheel, I like to flick it around with smaller or shorter turns. I hardly ever get the wheel lock-to-lock. (i hope this is making sense)

I do like the thought of the larger wheel, and the pedals having resistance better than what I have now. I probably won't use the shifter much other than a novelty I would think, but I may like it after I try it out.

bascially is the force feedback and feel of the wheel, along with the pedals worth the price in your opinion?

Can't find much on a rating or rewview for this company. Called but nobody was able to answer.
Here's the link:

hoping someone knows something about them, good or bad. Would hate to be the first to order from them

Quote from Micaoct :I just bought my G25 today, should get it in about 8 days. Im pumped! Now I just have to get rid of my Momo.

I got it for $261 shipping included. I can't wait to give it a try.

mind if I ask where you purchased it?
Found one through dell for about the same price but wound up at 277 w/ taxes (free shipping and 10% off coupon) and shipped in 1 to 2 days. SOOOOO tempting to hit the "checkout" button but I know I dont really "need" it.....or do i...

Quote from Gimpster :I was able to attend and autocross school back in the spring. First oppertuninty to really push my car. The school was cool because you got to make about 10 runs not the usaual 3 or 4. One of the instructors I had knew about LFS but was un-impressed. I think he was mental, I beat his time in my car by a few seconds. Now if I can solve the water and oil leaks and get weekends off I plan to run every event I can next year.

unimpressed? WHAT?! illepall
There was an instructor at our event that wasn't very fast...kind of odd if you ask me. What are you driving?

What school did you do? I was thinking of doing the evolution school

Quote from Polaxis :To go back to the topic:

Tell something about the track? How lang? What was the ground like? Gravel, dirt and so on =)

And please post some pictures of the car and the track if possible.

I dont have any pictures of the track really, its hard to get pictures they dont want spectators anywhere close to the track just in case.

It was a low 40 second track with lots of offset gates, a 2 slaloms and a chicago box and 180 hairpin turn. The surface was horrible, asphault but it was coming up pretty badly. its an old runway thats not used at the local airport.

a few pics of my car:

Quote from wheel4hummer :Was the autox layout in LFS the same as the real one? Would that be cheating? You should tell them about LFS.

No, but that would have been a great advantage! It was a pretty quick layout though which was nice. I did tell all the people i was corner-working with about LFS. They seemed really into it. We'll see if they come on line though

Been to one before, but did not drive. Practiced a few times on LFS and then last sunday went out and drove

Out of 28 novice drivers I finished 3rd, and ONLY because I hit 1 cone. I had the better time but the cone screwed me!

Still pretty happy overall. Figured I'd be way down in the pack but it was a nice suprise!

(oh, and i'm completely hooked on it now! I'll be going every month!)

Quote from Gentlefoot : OK - true. Skinning is easy when:

1) You have the MasterSkinnerz pro kits
2) You have a decent photo/graphic tool like Photoshop
3) You know how to use the graphics tool
4) You have creative talent.

I'm cool on 1 and 2, most of the way there on 3 but I really struggle on 4.

very true

I've got PS and the know-how, but those damn wrap-around angles are killing me!

The creative ability is...well....getting there i suppose. Usually my buddy finds a cool idea and i'll try to put it on the car

My thoughts:

1. Yes, giving room is very important. Using the L/R look buttons is important as well.

2. There seems to be some confusion about the "racing line" so to speak. Some believe that the person who is ahead at the point of turn in has the racing line(even if on the outside of the other car), others believe even if someone is a half car in front and they themselves are on the inside of the turn that THEY have the line and the other car should yield.

3. A lot of it has to do with the 5 lap races as most people will agree, because often the race is won in turn 1 @ blackwood with a 5 lap race.

4. (and this i think is the big one). If its a 5 lap race, it'll be over in 6 or 7 minutes anyway, just race again! Its not the end of the world if you DO manage to get bumped or put into the wall. The rediculous arguments that ensue are distracting to those of us who were not involved and are still racing (like when trying to see the "arcady" map). As long as the person at fault (or both parties) can say they are sorry and wait a few minutes, i dont see the big deal. I'll agree its frustrating, especially as I notice myself getting faster and further to the front, but again....its only a 5 lap race. there will always be another.

You'll never solve the problem on public servers, no matter how many educated racers you have.

i dont know if i'd call skinning "easy", even with the pro kits from master skinners(though they do work VERY well! Gotta have 'em)

Took me a few days to get the skin onto my FOX. Not the easiest thing in the world to skin, then again i've never done it.

Its certainly do-able though

Quote from linklemming :

Also, lets say there are 10 cones lined up in a row spread out far enough that you could weave thru them. My assumption is that I would only weave through them if pointer cones indicated that. Otherwise I just treat them like a boundary.

Gary

That would actually be a slalom, not a boundry. You would need to weave through the cones. If its a slalom it would be after a gate of cones

gates would be like:
^________^

you would drive between those and then the slalom would be directly in the middle of the driving lane a few feet down and you would weave through
Best bet is to find an autoX server and watch a few runs, then jump in!

Quote from Tweaker :Hmmm, it's getting there.... The red on the actual car is actually RED, and not the orange you have on your FOX skin. It isn't a bright red, but a bit darker 'cherry' shade.

Have you also made sure that your logos on the side are not stretched? You need to reduce their horizontal size to 65% or so to get the right size.

yeah I think my monitor needs calibration. Its red on mine, though not a deep enough red, I'll agree there.

First skin so I have not messed with streching really. I'll give it a go

Quote from Hog700 :Just retired my MS Sidewinder (non FFB) in favour of a joypad - at least until I can afford a FFB wheel. Main problem with the MS wheel was that it would constantly lose steering centre during a race.

Going to save up for a "proper" wheel.

was having the same problem with my momo force. thankfully new drivers corrected it. VERY annoying.

I say go with a wheel. If you've got $40 you can pick one up on ebay. My old man actually just got one so he can start playing LFS
