I've had a scary moment too.
When I first tried out my new kart. I only had slick tires with me and it was pouring like a madman. So the view was quite limited. First few laps. Aaaalright this is going well ! So then I went a bit faster. I came up to T1 with quite some speed. ( T1 at that track is a hairpin ). And I was braking way toooo late. So I felt that the kart became almost weightless and started skidding. Then I tried to keep it in a straight line whilst driving straight onto a gravel trap. I was thinking, well there goes my new kart. But then the kart made a sudden tank slapper and I lost alot of speed by it and I was able to make it safely into the gravel trap. My bumper JUST touched the tire wall!
God that was fun though.
This was the tecnichue wich I learned from another Karting/Simraing driver. It does suit MY driving style. I can place many overtakes with this and brake alot later then others.
THE Way to brake isn't trail braking.
If you have a good brake. Then you can stomp the pedal very fast. Let the rear tires lock up and slide it into the corner.
