i say it cos its true. before i got a wheel, i found racing games boring and missing something. i cant stand digital controls on games that need analogue for starters (racing genre a pure example), and keyboard users will be utterly useless in the more powerful cars.
ever since i got my wheel, ive rediscovered my love for racing games. keyboard just sucks, specially for sims. if you really cant afford a wheel, and still enjoy games like LFS, then fair enough. i just couldnt stand playing with the keyboard.
i can understand people without a wheel when they try the game, but to get any kind of enjoyment out of it you do really need a wheel. so it would seem logical to try it before you buy it, and when u do buy it, save some up for a wheel too.
you guys are going off in a slight tangent, making slightly absurd comparisons to forcing people to use wheels. its more about their enjoyment of the game than it is making a fair playing field!
Another one for Logitech Formula Force GP. Love it.
Pedals have been good to me so far, although I can tell they may break eventually, cos when i smush the accelerator coming out of a corner or brake hard, i can feel them twisting under the force of my foot. perhaps i should take it easy a bit
gotta point out that TFT screens' native resolution is 1280x1024 (which happens to be its max too). they work best in that resolution, since anything lower is emulated to fit 1280x1024 (due to the nature of the technology) so it will appear blocky the lower the res.
bigger monitors have higher native resolutions tho i think, as do widescreens.
in LFS, theres an option to display non-square mode resolutions, which should make 1280x1024 appear.
I see what your saying, but airfield tracks like Bedford Autodrome are great for rookies/noobs because they are so flat, and the run offs are massive, and dont punish you for spinning. The circuit layout is actually quite good.
Is there any way to get the resolution any higher than 1280x960? I would like to be able to play at 1280x1024 as it looks better on LCD screens (native res).
- tyre physics need fixing
- tyres seem to wear out very quickly when spinning
- is there even an option to pick the rubber compound? i cant remember.
- its very hard without a wheel that can do 360 degrees. youd have to have it set to high sensitivity, which would be very hard.
i youve actually seen people drifting from in-car view, it looks even harder than it does from outside. they're constantly spinning the wheel from lock to lock.
buy a VR glove and get a steering wheel that comes with a gear stick. the game will detect it and animations will then work for gear shift!
:P
LFS doesnt have this feature at all. Some games do, and it looks a bit stupid, since its really fast animation (i guess the computer trying to anticipate when you will shift and having to catch up).
