Due to the amount of sign-up activity in less than two weeks the Head-to-Head admins have decided action must be taken to preserve the series. After several meetings and discussions we came across the best possible solution is to keep the event format exactly as it always has been with only 16 players during the first round. Due to the limitations of the knockout system we can't just choose a number we like, so its either a 32 player first round, or a 16 player first round. We strongly feel that asking the participants to sit through round 1 of a 32 player event would be too much to ask, it would after all take 30 to 40 minutes for that round alone. But on the other side of the coin, we can't allow 34 people to enter the event and qualify, where more than half would be going home and being discouraged to begin with. The solution we found was to limit each event to 24 slots.
Each event will have at least 7 days to get into a slot, or be placed on the reserve list. The first 24 participants to sign up get into the event however there are a few exceptions to this first come, first serve list. The first 48 hours of the sign up period are reserved to those that have championship points already. Those with more points get higher priority as well, and this is done to preserve the championship. Just because the first 48 hours is locked down to people in the championship does NOT mean new participants can't signup. They will simply be placed on the reserve list and then moved up after the 48 hour period, so still sign up as soon as you can in that situation.
Since there are no championship points given before event 1 it means that it will be based completely on first come, first serve. Please watch your PMs and this will be opened BEFORE January 3rd, 2009.
Summary:
- 24 Slots Per Event, (First come, first serve)
- Championship points take priority for the first 48 hours. (Signup within the 48 to use your standings to help guarantee a slot)
- New participants / those without championship points get placed on reserve list when signing up within the first 48 hrs, then moved up as appropriate.
- Each event will have at least 7 days to sign-up.
