Some people (me included) really cannot do socialising too well, so we do all ours on the PC. It's not "normal" since humans are meant to be social creatures, but not all of us are capable of having the same sort of social lives (going out etc). I, for example, find it rather uncomfortable to talk to people I don't know, and getting to know them through the internet before meeting them helps with gaining the confidence to talk to them face to face. (I'm not saying Marco is like that, but it's a possibility and could explain the 7 PCs in 5 years - people with obsessions can often find they want more of the thing they're obsessed with)
That is a little different then just sitting behind a computer all day. Sometimes you need a way to contact someone. If you don't have their phone number, or you don't regularly see them, sometimes the internet is the only way to contact them.
When I was unemployed that's how I spent my days. I rarely left the house and spent from about 7:30am (when my gf left for work) until I went to bed at night playing games. Always multiplayer though, so I never really got the chance to feel isolated or lonely
Not a great lifestyle though. It used to drive me crazy because as a performer I had no creative output at all.
Anyway, to get back on-topic.
PS3, still bumming away. We got an Amazon voucher from a friend so that's getting me Gears 2 and the gf a few books. The rest of my money needs to get saved for car-related stuff.
I have phone numbers, I have Skype names etc, but I still find talking to people on the phone difficult (that's regardless of whether I know them or not). I agree it's not the same as "just sitting in front of a PC" but to anybody that is observing it may appear to be just that.
EDIT: Just thought I'd add that when I'm comfortable with talking to someone (which usually takes a while) then I'm pretty much ok, it's people I don't know too well that I'm like that with

I'm with JohnUK though, for me it is the social side of things, I don't communicate well on the phone or face to face, and I'm far more confident talking to someone through the net, and the fact I don't go out much doesn't help lol
Yeah I do get what you mean, but personally I find it difficult speak to people, and feel like paranoid when I'm out in town, but when I do speak to people they often say I have a good manner and I'm well spoken.
Back on topic (ish).... I really wish I had got a DVD recorder for Christmas Guess I'll have to buy it myself.
I'm actually getting really tired of my family situation. I help everybody else out, and never ask for - or receive - anything in return. I'm tempted to **** off to another continent again.
