Quite right, go slower and you won't be crashing at every corner. I know it's not as easy as it may seem, especially because the feeling of speed is wrong most often than not.

Using a wheel helps a lot, just in case you're using anything else.

and then theres the case of others crashing you, especially if you go too slow

Drive fast - get killed in crash, drive slowly - get killed by others

when i saw the title tho, i thought the thread is going to be about crappy looking damage

Indeed there is no option within LFS to disable Damage, as you're driving gets better hopefully u will be having less accidents
