http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger#Automobiles

There is a section that says the following:
Quote from wiki :
Boosting (attaching a supercharger) to a stock production naturally-aspirated engine, has returned as a practice, because of the increased quality of the alloys and the precision of the machining of modern engines.In the past, boosting greatly shortened engine life, because of the extremely high temperatures and pressures created by the supercharger, however, modern engines, made of modern materials, are over-designed to be stronger than required, thus, boosting is not a serious reliability concern. Commonly, boosting is done with small cars, the added supercharger's weight is less than the weight of a larger, greater-power engine. This decreases the fuel/mileage ratio, because mileage is a function of the car's total weight, a significant part of which is the engine. Nevertheless, adding a supercharger often voids the car's drive-train warranty. Moreover, an improperly installed supercharger, or one with excessive boost, will greatly reduce the life of engine, the differential, and the transmission, because they were not originally designed and made to operate at the additional, greater rates of speed, time, and torque.

Which clearly is completely false. There is no truth in that paragraph. At first, I deleted the whole paragraph. I check back on wikipedia today, and to my dismay the paragraph has been restored! WTF? So just now i added in three or four citation needed tags. Wikipedia is horrible. Don't use it if you actually need real information.

the reason why it isn't true, is because random people make the topics and post them onto wikipedia. wikipedia sucks anyway.
lol their is some truth to that :P

green = lie
BOLD = true
Red = my comment
It was almost certainly deleted due to the lack of citations. 'Because I say so' isn't a valid one.

As you said, you put a few up the second time, so it should be more likely to stay.

Don't count on it though, as the Wikipedia mods are well-documented as horrible little clique of editing nazis.
What you were basically doing is starting an edit war, actually not the most effective way to change an article for the better

But you have received some good suggestions, now go back there and fight for the Truth

PS: I don't really understand people pissing on Wikipedia, despite some flaws, it's still a good starting point to quickly find the essential info about a topic, and even discover new ones you had no idea about - that is, for people that are able to exert a degree of critical thinking upon what they're reading.

You just worked that out?
Yeah, unfortunatly Wikipedia is just a place for everyone to gather their chinese-whisper facts and post them. For some things, Wikipedia is very good. But in subjects which are often of interest to younger people, it becomes no better than 4Chan. People just tend to type bullshit, misquoting and misusing words, in a way that they think is right.

They need to learn that it's not what they think is right, but it's what is actually factually correct.
