Vote X and 'Cherry Picking ' Tracks
Quote from SamH : Server population is a rapidly changing variable while track selection *should* be once every 2hrs 30mins or so.

Voting to end a race is catered for in the X-System, yes, but I DO consider cherry-picking tracks to be contrary to the spirit of CTRA - meeting and defeating challenges placed before you.

The vote to end race thing is getting beyond a joke.
They spent 20 mins the other day trying to select a long track !

What wrong with smaller tracks? They minimise field spread for closer racing.Much better experience driving in traffic.
Is it the number of laps that put people off? Because the driving time is the same . Is the different style of driving a problem? The top speed?

Motor racing is all about racing on a different variety of tight and twisty and open flowing tracks .Testing drivers limits in a diverse range of situations with constantly changing variables.
Not homologated , designed round the car tracks.
Variety is the spice of life .
Hell why not throw the oval in there now and again

All I ever seem to race these days on ctra race 3 is AS5+ with the odd KY.
Don't want to see ctra turning into a one track server !!
The only problem I see is the occasional grid size problems with a large no. of racers .These problem tracks could drop of the list when more than x no. of racers.

Vote end should not be allowed for the 'cherry picking 'of tracks, if at all.
A minimum number of races should take place at each venue.
Pro drivers don't get to pick and choose their tracks.
Probably lots of drivers out there that are waiting for a short track on the rotation to join , could be keeping them away.
Giving the masses to much choice is dangerous

Good suggestion, IMO. Maybe disable voting to end race in the first 3 or 4 races after track change (if that is possible in any way).
i very much see were oyu are coming from and your suggesting of limiting small tracks(like very small ones) for when there are less people has solved my only problem with not having vote end to change track

im very much +1
I ran into this on CTRA 2 over the weekend, but there they were Shift-X'ing all the long tracks. Either way, it is very annoying.
Apart from RallyX, where's a widespread hatred for them..

That said, 15 races can get rather boring. It's not quite so bad on some of the shorter tracks on Race 1, where it can be an hour or so, which is still too long IMO - but on the longer tracks on R2 it can be 2 or 3 hours, and tbh that's more time than most people can race solidly for. Why not have no vote to end, and just have 6 races per track, then a change. As you say, it's about variety. And where's the variety in spending 3 hours driving round the same old circuit?

However I'd like to pick you up on a point you made, TurboDad, about shorter tracks being better. Not on R1 at least, where backmarkers and mid-race joiners do absolutly everything in their power to **** up your race in some way.

+1 to your post in general, but remember that not everyone wants to either:

a) spend 2 hours racing round the same track
b) spend 2 hours racing on LFS at all

similarly when a track gets to the end of it's run, IE CTRA is going to change the track at the next restart, post race vote restarts should be banned. I ended up leaving race 3 two nights ago because of the number of post race restarts on AS5

i thought after a certain number of restarts it forces an end?

If you vote restart it bypasses the system
The biggest problem is Bump n Jump, there are too many over complicated or long tracks with the TBO cars. Personally I would like to see some rallycross tracks so we can mix it up a bit, or more use of the UF1 and MRT, both are great for autocross racing. It might reduce the number of people voting to end races.

Which is a good thing... if enough people want to continue racing the same track, they should be able to.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :MRT

Ooh yes, the MRT. What happened to that MRT cup Sam was thinking about? I used to love that little go-kart racer

+100
I shall quote from another thread, where I asked about the possibility of voting for the next track, like as is possible in Counterstrike.

Quote from SamH :Yeah, if I create the track queue I'll definitely include the upcoming codes in the $track menu.

I don't mind discussing track voting. I'm just setting out my stall in the interests of full disclosure. I can be convinced by a convincing argument

Lets get convincing

I think that a system similar to Mani-Mod (?) where players have a set time to nominate tracks for the vote, and then after nominations have closed a set time to vote for the track they want to be next. The option of another 15 minutes on the current track could also be present, but it should not be possible to 'vote_extend' more than once, so extra 15mins tops.

Could either be done via text or a insim menu I imagine.
Quote from bunder9999 :admin-mod and amx-mod can do that too.

It's been years since I followed CS mods etc, I reinstalled the other week and now royally suck , Mani was the one we used at the time.
