Quote :Hi this is David Williams, I'm going to take you around a lap of 2:36.90 in the FZ GTR at Aston Grand Prix.
You will want to have used as much curb as possible to maintain maximum exit speed from the final chicane for the start of the lap.
Keep the steering to a minimum as you build up speed heading into T1.
Stay left, shifting down into 4th gear, and aim for an early apex. It is important to avoid the inside curb if you can as it may unsettle the balance of the car. Let the car run out wide, and again keep the steering to a minimum.
Coming into this tight hairpin prepare to brake at around (Edit: 110m), while blipping the throttle to maintain stability, and get on the power early and smoothly from 2nd gear to rotate the car quickly.
Sweep across to the left of the track, and concentrate on getting good traction and exit speed from this small chicane. You will want a late apex into the first section so you can straightline the exit as much as possible.
As the car builds speed, gradually drift to the right of the track, to allow better entry into the stadium section. You will need to slow the car down while aiming for the curb on the left, and try to get back on the power as soon as you dare to maintain speed through the apex and exit.
Brake just before 50m and shift into 3rd gear into this tricky right hander. Get on the throttle smoothly and early, allowing the car to run out wide on the exit to maintain traction.
Bring the car back over to the right again as you head towards a tricky left hander, and aim to hook the inside wheels up with lots curb after making a slight lift on the throttle. Avoid the dirt on the right hand side if you can as it will hurt you in the following few corners.
Keep a tight sweeping line heading into this fast double apex left hander. Drop down a gear into 4th, and hook the car up in the camber of the road. It is important to keep a tight line through here so you may need to modulate the throttle a little.
Ride the green curbing on the right to give yourself a wide entry into the next long lefthander. This corner should be almost always completely flat out, and you will want the car to run out wide using all the track after hitting the apex.
Use minimum steering as you drive through this fast sweeping section of the lap.
Brake at around 75m into this final hairpin, changing down into 2nd. Wait for the car to settle, then get on the power as soon as you can.
Let the car drift across to the right towards the final chicane, change down into 3rd, and try and straightline across the curbs as much as you can without losing traction for the exit towards the start / finish line.

Nice guide mate
Very good indeed David!
Just thought I should point out, 80 meters is over optimistic into the first hairpin (I based the original distances on how it felt). 110 meters should keep you from flying off the track.

Was curious about this too, because I'm braking also at 110 meters. Good video though.
Very nice vid, Dave!
OMG, mph...
Wahhh skills. :hide:
Wow, nice driving. Thanks for the guide.
I can tell without watching that this one will probably pwn my onboard tracklap for the MoE race coverage. But then again, it might not.
