That looks rather super Crashgate.

I've seen some vids of Aircraft approaching that place in mad crosswinds, sometimes nearly smashing the wings on the runway while they try to keep it straight.
I must admit, that when FSX first came out I did have a dabble, but back then my computer struggled with it on anything other than low settings!
I have since got a new CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade and a new GFX card that _should_ be capable of blowing it out of the water.
One question...Did they ever get the DX10 stuff implemented like they originally intended?
Quote from Crashgate3 :The scenery I'm making for FS9 (and probably FSX) has an interesting approach.

That scenery is a impressive piece of art. Really... I am looking forward to it and hope you will release a FSX Version too

But talking about Approaches. Do you know any good Tutorials of how to create Approaches? I am trying to figure it out since yesterday, studying different Charts, looking at Approach Codes of the Default Airports and in the GPS... but I don´t get it.
I will still try, because my EDJA should get at least correct Approaches.
Quote from JamesF1 :There is little merit in any realistic flight simulator unless you are willing to just sit for hours doing relatively nothing,

Sounds too much like work.

DX10 mode in FSX really cuts the frames down and for what you get with it I never found it was worth it. FSX is one of the only games on my computer that has fairly average performance- I'm running an overclocked quad core and 8800 GTS512 (1900 x 1200) and while leagues ahead of my old system, FS still manages to bog down to unplayable levels on occasion. Part of the problem is that FS is a very hard disk intensive game, so you might want to look at upgrading your HD if you're still getting poor performance with your new hardware. I doubt you'd ever quite reach 'blown out of the water' performance though.

you should see what they could do on a rainy day. for me it's nice to know that this is a safe (but calm) airport since the last crash was in 1977 and the last incident (a rather funny one for me, not for the passengers and pilot) was in 2004.

Does anybody still fly FS2004 in VATSIM?

Not VATSIM, I've never flown on it. But I still use FS9. Computer wouldn't be able to handle FSX.
I thought Vatsim worked with pretty much any version of FS? All it requires is the Squawkbox compatibility and the airports to be in the same place.
If you want a seriously difficult landing.
Put Zapopan in the airport or city, then with a CRJ or 737 fly like 2 miles out and return to the other runway, I bet you wont land...
I can run graphics on ultra smoothly but graphics don't see to get that good ? why is that ?

Beware the graphics options are separated...One for resolution, antialiasing etc, one for airplane detail, one for scenery, weather etc. Check that you've got full graphics on each tab, and prepare for some serious fps!!!
Yes, and keep an Eye on the Max. FPS you set in FSX. If you set your FPS say to 60 and max out all the eye candy sliders it is possible that FSX tries to stabilise your FPS to 60 but has no ressources to draw the Graphics.
This way you have maybe a fluid FSX experience, but suffer the "green soup". Maybe you also have to tweak the FSX Config if you have a Multicore machine and are using SP2 or the Accelleration Pack. AFAIK FSX can use up to 4 Cores, but IMHO you have to tell him that he can use them.
cheers lads, whats the online play like ?

Well its not a case of wether it compatible, just wether I log on to find that nobody is around because they have all moved to FSX land.
What I mean is that it's compatible no matter what version you're using. So you'll still see people regardless of whether they (or you) are using FS9, FSX or even FS2002.
Yes, I believe that is the case. It doesn't matter which version you are using. Even in a regular server (I fly at WSPilots.com) we mix and match FS8, FS9, and FSX. We can see each other no matter what version. Only you may see other pilots in the wrong aircraft if you don't have a similar aircraft installed.

Ahh, ok thanks people.
Yes, as the others said. On IVAO and Vatsim all fly mixed. Even non MS Flightsims are Online (X-Plane at least). It´s just important to not use the FSX built in Online Mode. You HAVE to use IVAO or Vatsim + Squawkbox / FSInn, whatever you prefer / runs on your Setup.
Flight Unlimited 2!!

My fav flight sim ever. I tried IL2 on my brothers setup (rudder pedals, Saitek X45) and I got shot down............alot........even before I saw other people. Or i got into the air and saw no one for hours heh . was still fun though.
Are the addons free ? Were can I get these and finally were do I put them ? what files

Thanks
Vatsim is your friend. There´s all you need. No, there isn´t. You need a shitload of time to read and memorize all this. And if you have no clue about flying, navigation, how to read Approach Charts and ATC phraseology do not, I repeat DO NOT go Online!

Vatsim is like a LFS League. They take it VERY serious, so don´t go Online and drive in the wrong direction... eerrr... wrong Sim (but it´s a similar situation there too)

You should really read through the Pages at Vatsim. Maybe there´s a nice vACC in your Country. For example in Germany there is one and they offer Online Lessons for Noobs where you can learn all you need to get Online. I am sure vACCs in other Countries have similar generous people. But beware... it´s VERY time consuming. If you join them expect the same quotes you hear when somebody joins LFS: Say good bye to your social life.
I tried Vatsim once, was on it for about a month, then lost interest (as i do with some games), though i do go back to it now and then, can be quite handy using aeronautical phraseology

Ah yes, I have been reading my way through the Pilot Resource Centre for a few weeks now, but its going to be as while before I even start (if I do.).

Sorry, but could some explain Vatsim to me briefly looked around but all new too this. Thanks
VATSIM is simply simulated ATC. There are people who work as ATC whom you contact while you are flying. I've never tried it as it looks very intimidating. You would need to know how to talk to ATC. You have to file flight plans and get your flight rule orders from ATC. I don't know if they have actual flight servers where you would see everyone else that is flying or not. You would hear everyone else that is flying.

I would like to try it, but it is too much just to try. I'm also 36 years old and am not into the teamspeak and communication thing so talking on my computer is a bit wierd to me. That's something that the younger crowd probably thinks of as second nature because they have always had communication with gaming.

I do believe you can mark yourself as an observer and join in to just listen. I think you would have to contact ATC and tell them your intentions so that they wouldn't have to worry about seeing you after contact. It all sounds really cool to me, but doesn't seem like it is for the casual flier like I am.

At WSPilots.com, we have done some casual ATC, but it was usually everyone flying the same route and not necessarily following true ATC rules. We usually only would have a handful of folks on the server. VATSIM is like actually flying IRL and talking to ATC as it is IRL.
