I have watched this since it first started in 2007. I loved the first 2 series. I have just watched the 1st episode of series 3 which started tonight, and im not sure wheather i really like it or not, mainly because it has all new characters.
The only characters that are still in it are background characters from the last 2 series, but the focus of the show has moved to them, plus all the noobs!
I just wondered if anyone else watched it and what they thought of it in comparison to the previous series, which was epic. Im not sure yet, although its looking good so far!
Won't comment on it, haven't seen (any) of it despite being in target demographic. If it's what it appears like - an "uprated" Hollyoaks - I'd better avoid it, even when wearing a hazmat suit.
I loved the first series, then the second series got really depressing, it was still really well written and I enjoyed it, but I missed the fun stuff they used to get up to. I liked the first episode of the new series, more Effy is great because we don't really know that much about her from the first 2 seasons, other than she is a people watcher that likes to manipulate situations. The new characters are interesting, but I agree it's a bit more OTT than the first two seasons and the characters are less realistic.
Based on the first episode I think I will enjoy Season 3 more than Season 2, but Season 1 is still unbeatable in my opinion. Oh and Skins is definately not just an uprated Hollyoaks, if it were then I wouldn't watch it.
Yeh but Chris had to be killed off, he was such a huge character they couldn't just leave it open ended otherwise people would constantly ask for him to be back in the series. Chris, Effy and Sid were my favourite characters, so I'm glad they kept one of them and at least gave Sid an honourable mention with the locker full of porn.
Cooky ate an entire cake, drank tequila and a goldfish! Drunk some more at a party, sang a song, Then got beaten up by a ganster dude. He later beat up the gangster dude while he was handcuffed to a bed, cooky will probably die soon.
Effie didn't really do anything.
Pandora ate a whole bag of drugs and behaved even more strangely than usual.
Yeah, he made me laugh as well. I swear he was trying to do some kind of jack sparrow style impressions as well.
I find it even funnier because.. 1, i don't think his character looked old enough to have a daughter that age, and 2. he didnt look in the least bit tough at all.
That cooky is a bit of a psycho though, methinks he will be in trouble.
The very unrealistic gangsters were what ruined it, that and it was focused on one of the more annoying characters, although it seems he might improve as the series goes on and we find out why he is so crazy.
Agreed, cooky is a total nutjob, hopefully the reasons behind his attitude will emerge.
He kind of reminds me of myself at that age, except i didnt do drugs at all. I had a few rucks, used to get upset easily and was a bit punchy at times, but i soon found that i wasn't as tough as i thought. A few slaps off some 'bigger boys' soon adjusted my attitude and i learned to stfu and ignore comments and deliberate provocation when necessary, I basically grew up. I was never anywhere near as out of control as he is.
There was an occasion where i saw a guy punch a women full on in the face, proper laying into her, so i delivered some justice of my own, but i felt that was necessary, and it was because i was the only person around at 3am, i swear he would have broken her nose or delivered a fatal blow. It was seriously that bad.
luckily, CCTV caught all of it and the other guy ended up getting arrested for assaulting the girl, and i got a thankyou from a policeman!
The crazy life and soul of the party, down the pub on the razz part of his personality is how i was.
I used to stay out all night on the p!ss, have a shower and go off to work and feel fine. I can't do that anymore though.
An occasional session down the pub at the weekend possibly followed by a nightclub, and home by 2am is all im capable of these days.
If i have got to go to work i never go out late the night before, thats on the rare occasion i even go out on a 'school night'. If i do i will be in by 11pm as i cant hack having little or no sleep.
I also suffer the crippling hangovers that last all day as well so i don't get wrecked to that degree anymore.
Strange how up until i was about 22 i could drink until i passed out and get up in the morning feeling perfect.
Oops, iv'e gone off on a tangent again so, back to topic..
I feel this series has much more to offer, and we will learn the reasons behind peoples personalities, plus we will see if cooky gets away with what he did to mr. white, somehow i doubt it!
Last night episode was a bit crappy tbh, mackenzie crooks character lost the little (if he ever had any) menace he had by proving, or trying to prove, how hard he was by eating a pot noodle that was boiling hot and by failing to eat hot chillies . WTF was that about?
Pandoras auntie thinking she was drinking home made tea, when in fact the tea was a mass cannabis plantation in her shed was fairly funny tho.
Cookie finding this 'underground' party was a bit far fetched as well. Accessible by only one manhole cover?
I think i'm going off it a little bit after this one.
That episode was complete rubbish. I was really disappointed, and the character i started to like is now getting deported. I am really getting annoyed with this series. It is just so unrealistic, the first two series were realistic and were really nice to watch
Oh well i thought this would happen, and that Cookie guy is a complete utter idiot. I just want to punch him in the face
Hopefully the next few episodes will calm down and get back to the stuff Skins does well. I have a feeling Thomas will be back, maybe as soon as the next episode, Effy will probably make him come back for Pandora. I still think it has potential, the characters are good it's just the stories that are a bit crap at the moment.
Yeah, i liked thomas, he seemed very naive to begin with but he seemed to be more wise to things when things got heated. He sure put mr white in his place as well.
The look on his mums face when he opened the door to her and all she could see was cookie and effy going for it, loads of people getting stoned and taking drugs, and then to top things off, pandora walking up with her waps out!
I initally thought that mr white and his boys were gonna do some serious burning damage to thomas when the kettle was switched on, then to hear the ridiculous lines such as 'load the pot' and 'have you sauced it?' uttered by the so called gangster man was so terribly unrealistic i found myself laughing at the sheer stupidity of that whole scene.
I think that was the point, he is just a guy playing gangster on a housing estate, but he is just a complete joke in reality. Now that they have realised that I think it will get back to normal Skins, where the problems are relationship and college related rather than idiotic pretend gangsters.
