can i upgrade?
i have a compaq presario cq50 notebook with these specs

processor: genuine intel(r) CPU 575 @ 2.00 GHz

memory RAM: 2.00 GB

system type: 32Bit operating system

and it has windows vista home basic

heres my situation, i was playing LFS on my old desktop but it was un upgradeable and the FPS was between 10-20 with everything turned off including smoke, rubber, trees, etc. so since christmas was coming i asked for a notebook so i could have my own computer, take it where i wanted and hopefully play LFS better, but thats not the case, i brought LFS over from the other computer on a flashdrive and started it up and it only runs at 5 more FPS so max is 25FPS that ive seen with everything off, is it because of the laptop, or do i need a certain version of LFS for vista... or what?

so thats my dilema and i want to know if its just because i dont have a vista version of LFS if there even is one or if i need to upgrade my computer, and if so can i even upgrade this notebook? and if so to what should i upgrade?

Whats the graphics card? Most likely got Intel integrated junk - It which case your screwed as theres no way you can upgrade it.

New laptops still come with onboard GFX - unfortunately all you can do is look for a laptop with a faster graphics card on it (i.e. even a basic 8400GS, 8600GT, 9300, 3470 or 3670 is a start).

yesterday?
sorry, it was too easy. please continue.
but seriously, maybe changing os to XP might help just because xp is not a rescourse hog like vista is.

Agreed, I've switched my Vista laptop to dual-boot Ubuntu and Windows 7, as they use far less resources. Even with 2GB of RAM, some of that is used for video RAM, and a huge chunk is used by Vista just to look pretty, leaving LFS with very little. By installing a cleaner OS, you can leave LFS with a bit more RAM, which should help a bit

Laptop GPUs aren't great anyway, unless they're dedicated, like Jakg said. That's by far the main problem
