Acknowledging restart
I mainly play on CTRA servers and sometimes it's really annoying when people don't wait for the autorestart and vote it earlier leading to people who went to take a leak being stuck on the grid. It would be a really simple thing that when restart time comes, you'd just have to click and "OK" button in 15 secs and if you failed to do that it would make you spectate.
You could say "if you leave the chair, press shift+s" but
1) most people still won't
2) rejoining after puts you on the last position
3) you can't be sure you'll even can rejoin in the rush hours.

Is this possible? Or it's a bad idea?

No it doesn't

CTRA employ magic voodoo people that put you back in the right place on the grid when restart comes. To disturb them and see their magic, type in $grid
add to this things like vote-end a race when not actually being in the race.

I also mainly play on CTRA and there's a bunch of ugly stuff going on. The problem is: some of it is because of the way LFS works and can't be fixed by CTRA (like vote related things), and some of it is CTRA issues and therefore doesn't belong into the "improvement suggestions" section.

Now I try to put it carefully:

You really have to find out who has to be addressed (LFS or CTRA) first, because if you complain in the "wrong" section, you might upset the folks there.

Been there, done that.

I don't know for sure, but your problem seems to be CTRA resp. InSim related. So put it in their forum and hope for the best.
If you are not at the wheel you spectate the race. Simple as that.

It is ignorant towards the other racers to stay on the grid when you aren't even at your wheel because you could cause a crash at the start of the next race when you aren't back in time and on those full servers you mentioned you occupy a grid slot that could be used by someone who actually is waiting to race.

I was looking for a forum link or an email address or anything on raceauthority.com for like half an hour but couldn't find anything...

Well, I think I wasn't clear enough. Race ends and I know I have 90 secs. I can go to the bathroom and get back in less than a minute, so I take no ones place and get back to the restart comfortably. The problem is when too much people is impatient and they vote a restart in 15 secs. A simple "is-the-driver-responding" check would eliminate the starting crashes because of "stuck" cars. And it's not just only for CTRA, all the servers should have this as its nothing to program and it's only a keypress for everyone.

It's quite annoying, but perfectly fair. If the server as a whole doesn't want to wait the 2 minutes or so before a restart, they're perfectly entitled to force the restart.

The only issue is that, personally, whenever the race is over I tend to run to the loo. Normally I'm back in half the time but it's happened that I return to find the entire pack just entering the first corner. I guess that's only my fault, but there should be a minimum period of say, 1 minute after all the people that started, have finished, before you can force a restart. That way it gives people the chance to grab a drink, check MSN etc, have a pee.

I'm sure one of the CTRA staff will simply tell me to spectate, to them I say "**** that". I'm not going to lose my spot because I went afk for 30 seconds to have a pee.

I'm not one of the CTRA stuff but I will still tell you to spectate.

See my above post for reasons. Tough luck if you don't want to lose your spot.

I know, it doesn't come naturally to look at CTRA as a league .

@S14 Drift: do you take funny substances from time to time?
Everyone's a bit confused now and then, but I really start to worry about you.
I'm taking happy/strange pills.
Does the LFS voting system work with at 50%+1 absolute majority of votes for restart, end race, bans & kicks? Or is it a higher value, like 2/3, etc? I have no idea of what is implemented in LFS yet

Because if its 50%+1, maybe adding a server-side choice of a couple options to pick from (from 50%+1 to 80%+1 lets say) would help. If this is already possible, forget what I said ^^
If you Shift-P instead of Shift-S, you can rejoin as if you never pitted, retaining your place on the grid, your spot in the race, etc.

Omg, I didn't even think about that. Thanks, that will do the trick

I'm pretty sure it's simply 50%. If there are only two people on a server that allows voting, one person can continue to force a restart if he keeps screwing up. I've had this happen when I was just driving around with some other guy. It's stupid and really should be 50%+1 at the very least.
