Porsche Carrera Review and Clubsport Pedal preview
Hi All,
We've reviewed the yet to be released Carrera wheel by Fanatec.. as well as a preview of the new Clubsport pedals. We also just released episode 37 of Inside Sim Racing..
Both shows are up in You Tube, Blip, Mogulus and POD..
They've assured me that the production wheel will be quieter.. I also noticed that unless you're driving like Shaun.. It's not too bad.. My friend Thierry was over again last night running some open wheel stuff and it wasn't loud at all..
Thierry also doesn't saw the wheel like a mad man..
Don't forget to subscribe to their show on youtube!
Around $289 for the GT3 with clubsport pedals if I remember correctly. Though I don't think they are reviewing the GT3 wheel in this episode. There are a lot of different wheels and options.
lol heal toe tutorial, i still can't do i right, i either end up hitting the brakes too hard (when i'm trying to hit the throttle) or end up not hitting the throttle hard enough. It's like i can't pivot my foot properly, i dunno. Mehbe i need to practice that technique more in Single player lol
So they build a loadcell based brake, yet still get loads of travel on the pedal, at 19:35 and onward it seems like it barely requires any force to press (certainly not 50+lbs).. They look nice and probably do offer good value though..
Got to love the marketing department for the wheel though; they got rid of the bigger powersupply and motor cooling fan by increasing gearing! Great! A slower turning and more noisy wheel.. umm wait.. thats a bad thing!
That was actually a viewer Chris Obrien that was doing the heel / toeing.. I would say that the Clubsports would heel / toe nicely.. I'll have to try it..
Also, this is a wheel that is in the same price point as a DFGT or Ferrari F430. Comparing it to a G25 isn't really a fair $ comparison.. But.. I would take the Carrera over the G25 right now.. For the wheel. Pedals I like the G25s better.. but.. not better than the Clubsports.
To the person that mentioned the brake looks a little weak.. It gets progressively stiffer, but..one of the recommendations I made was to add a spring in addition to the load cell to add more tension / return.. Also the throw can be changed by moving the mount up one hole.. Im going to try that and see the difference. Overall, these have a great feel that I definitely prefer to the G25s pedals with Nixim mod...
The RS GT3 is going to be a hell of a package with these pedals. I also can't wait to feel the force feedback effect on the brake when the driver / plug in is made.
Also for those of you that want to change to maybe just a Porsche wheel and keep your G25 pedals, Fanatec is making an adapter to plug directly into their wheel.
Thanks Darin. Yeah, I noticed in your video that you can move the mount up or down on the pedal arm. Four more holes it seems. I guess that would make it quite a bit stiffer! If you try it out it would be nice if you could tell us how you like it that way.
