I need close racing!
I live in Australia, and i get no racing other than 2 or 3 peeps online per night............. Actually like a test session ! Can we maybe have a certain number of rooms limited per country??? At least in our region?? I Love this game but there is never enough people to race with, Australia sux by the sound of it! We need more advert here!!!
Hehe, sadly I think there is nothing you can do about it. Unless you stay up long enough (or early, no idea how that works) to be online when the europeens are online.

Unless you get more people from autralia to buy lisences of course =)
Even if i stay up all night i get people boooting me for lag?! I have 1 of the fastest connections in Aus!!!! I cant do any better, So i have to loose out from that!!!? Why do i have to loose out of close racing???!!!! We need a limited amount of servers running in our region i think?!!! what you reakon?? Therer like 700+ Servers when i search and only 25% have 1 to 5 players on them!!! GAY!!!
Most likely the speed of your internet is not the problem here, but the distance. When mention speed games usually don't use more than 5-10kb/sec download / upload when playing, when downloading skins this can increase tho, either way it's most likely your signal. When you try to race on a server, or all information about you, have to travvel a great distance before others recive it. It's not just the distance either, but it goes through a lot of "check" posts on the way, to give and recive info further on the journey. Finally, after checking through more check-stations and given more information than you would need if your name was Osama Bin laden and tried to get USA visum, then your on the server and people get the information. Sadly that distance, and those xxx numbers of check posts has taken it's time, and others will notice it. For them you will be jumping all over track, and impossible to predict where you are heading, and for them your just a hazard needing to be removed.

If you, on any way, download, upload or using much badwith of your internet line while playing, the time taken from your computer sends out the signal to when people recives it will increas DRASTICALLY. I strongly advice you not to do this, or if you are going to do, please at least limit upload on 50%, and download on 60-70%, just to make sure there is not a problem with over usage at the line.

Other things you can check, do you sit on wireless? If you do, the latency will increase much, often can it jump up normally 200MS, or 0.2 seconds on respon time just by going from airsignals instead of cable signals.

One last thing you can try, if your equiptment has been turned on for a while, that means ruter, ADSL modem, computer - restart all mentioned. Sometimes there just happens to occure bottleknecks, that is solved by a restart. Also, if your computer gets very hot, it might give you extra lag aswell.

There, that's a little info about the latency problem.

The last thing you mention is the few people online at the many servers, again that is a problem with your location. Most people that plays LFS most likely sleeps at the time you try to go online, or maybe in heavly work time or something. The only help you can get on this is to either stand long up on nights, or get more pople in your time zone to buy lisence so you can play with them.

If you ask kind maybe some of us europeen's could stay up long one night, so we could take some races My time zone is GMT+1, but I have no idea what time zone Australia is.
I understand in Europe you have lots of people to race with, But because we down here don't have any peeps that play S2, i think per night even we should have like 2 race, 2 cruise, 2 Demo, Just in our region???? Say there is 72 racers in Aust. i see 20-40 rooms that look to me they are from my region with good ping but 1 or 2 connections?

And I would submit a screenshot of my main connection page but don't know how?

I hate to say, But this is the only LFS downfall is Australasia! That we get no racing and no one knows about it here!!!
The Very End's reply is excellent, and a very complete picture of the problem you're experiencing. There is nothing that the design of LFS can do about it, so I don't see why this is in Improvement Suggestions, but I can see why you'd want more local LFS servers to keep the community going over there. So.. Why not start one?

Maybe you are an owl among aussies?

I am an owl among europeans and remember racing against aussies, but for all I know, those might have been the larks of Australia

That is why LFS has been adding more and more translations, in an attempt to bring asian people to join. But I can't honestly say how much it really worked out.

The only asian I remember seeing online was Wulf§port (from HK IIRC), and since CTRA was shut down I've never seen him again.

I know this is hard, but why don't you advertise LFS around you ? Maybe you'll find a couple of friends to race with...

The Aussie/Kiwi area is V quiet at the mo. I have not played in a while now because of this.

I hope the new car, when released, will make things pick up for a while.

I used to play CTRA a bit before that died. As long as your connection is stable you can play with high ping.

It's because of your timezone. It's unfortunate but is a phenomenon that happens with all games. Try finding an Oceania community thing to join, I'm sure there's one or two and perhaps you can start finding an active server or two in your timezone.

3-4 people online sounds about right. So limiting number of server per country won't help. When you do a server list search, those 3-4 people are usually in the same server.

There's a couple good Aussie leagues, sat and sunday racing is ok. 8-10 players sometimes at ninja's server.

AusRaceSports.... wasn't online when I checked yesterday at 8-9am Saturday (EST), but sounds nice.

Only thing we can do is wait for s3 final and then the game is advertised/publicised enough to get alot more people involved. I dunno, make more babies instead? Hey, good pick up-line there for ya.....

Maybe petition for v8 supercar type cars to be made in LFS. What Ford/Holden fans will be "champing-at-the-bit" for a 2Ltr FWD new car?
Although then everyone would just get drunk with v8 events, so no-one would be capable of racing.

even if we had the same ratio of players per capita we are still extremly thin on the ground

800 online in Europe is equivalent to 23 online in Aus, not even a full server

Then you have the issues of not all 23 want to do the same thing which is why you end up with servers of 3-6 average in Aus
