Controller Presets and a wonky camera please.
My first post, so a big hello from me (HELLO!)

A couple of suggestions...

Mostly I drive with a wheel and pedals, but sometimes I use a PS2 controller. I'd like to see controller presets so I can select a controller from a list with the benefit of not having to reconfigure keys every time.

I'm sure someone must have requested a replay theatre by now, but I'd love to see a camera which isn't locked in the TV view. Put another way, your car is always central to the screen (give or take for pans and zooms) but i'd like to see the camera move around the centre. MotoGP2 URT and Indycar World Series have an implementation of this.

It looks cool, but then I'm sad ;-)

Try shift+U for a moveable camera that always follows the car unless you choose for it not to. Also try the custom feature where you can choose any camera angle as one of your camera options.
The wobbly camera is a simple but highly effective method of making the replays look a bit more real. I love it

Gran Turismo has been doing it for ages, and RBR also has it. GTR also does it occasionally but in that it looks more like an earthquake, so it doesn't always work

I've noticed that the camera in LFS isn't locked onto the cars now, (which I think is a clever way of getting around the problem of a jumpy camera if the car is lagging), so I would guess the effect could fairly easily be implemented.

Another feature that is rarely used but works really well, is one that zooms the camera out to fit more cars into the shot, rather than centering on one driver. The only time I've seen this done is in Crammond's GPx efforts, but it would be superb for multiplayer races when you want to watch a wheel-to-wheel battle, rather than having to switch between the two.

That would be excellent. I was fond of the TV director mode too, which switched to different cars based on proximity, overtaking potential and cars spinning out.

Well, It didn't always work like that but the thought was there...

Best implementation of 'shaky' I've seen is with the Heli view in MotoGP2 URT on the PC.

I doubt that this will ever happen in LFS, since you cant demand this from the devs, as it only takes very much time (at least I would guess so) and the use is rather small. Most people will want to configure their own controller settings anyway, so why "help" them with this

Ah, I see what you mean, but it's not quite what I'm getting at.

If I use my joypad, I have the keys mapped in a certain way, but when I plug the wheel in, then i have to change the mapping. I'd like to be able to switch between controllers and have my configuration saved to each preset. For example, my look left/right assignments are in different positions relative to each controller.

So I'd love something like this;
Preset #1 (pad) uses buttons 1,3,5,7
Preset #2 (wheel) uses 2,4,6,8

Don't need the devs to design a suitable controller layout, if that's what you meant ;-)

Hope all that makes more sense.
