Attached is an .mp3 file with a size of 513.7kb at a length of 1:05

Anyone interested in trying to get the file size smaller without loosing any quality???

...i need it for something and the smaller the better...

I reckon the last few seconds might benefit from VBR, technically there's is no way to make it smaller without losing quality if you are sticking with mp3. It really depends on perceivable quality, which at 64kbps is getting on for pretty low.

i've been driving myself bloody nuts getting the rate down to what 'sounds' the very worst i can get it, lowering the sample rate any more than 22000 sounds off.

this is the smallest after lots of conversions to and from FLAC to wav and round and round knocking kb's here and there.

Also I need it to sound good from a very small mono speaker but theres too much bass and it sounds shite.

any advice on how to PB/anyone?
Maybe you could try converting the original file to aac, then convert it back to mp3?
I know, in theory the mp3 might be no smaller than the one posted above, but if IT only knows 0s and 1s, why is there always a 2 messing up the whole thing?

That would not make it any smaller. If you encode it in ogg u can get it down to 400kb.
It wouldn't let my attach the file. I got it down to zero by deleting the crap song.

It sure is Spankey, that's the whole point of it

Reason for getting it as small as i can is because I'm in the process of putting together all the default ring tone filenames for all of the popular brands of mobile phones, in my phone I'll have folders:

Nokia/[default ring tones]
Siemens/[default ring tones]
...etc. where all of the tones are a copy of the above file and write protected of course so as they cant remove them

Just a prank, I want to pi$$ off some people

Any attempt of compressing your file would result in a loss of quality, regardless of what bitrate you use, as that would be compression of a compressed file. Amplified artifacts, etc.

We'll need the uncompressed file... if you have it.
