One of my team mates is trying to create an s2 server, he downloaded a dedicated host something or other from lfs.net. he is in the server with no troubles, but i try and join, and it comes up with the error messgae "connect timed out" what could the problem be and how could it be resolved.

The problem is most likely a router or firewall. Please read this guide thoroughly.

Or using wireless internet.
