Pay for upgrades
Firstly, thanks for a great game which I use as a practice for WRX Club track days.

I personally would have no objection to paying for new track and car upgrades, as I have paid nothing since joining back in 2006. So I think it's time to dip into the pocket and give some back into developing the game further.

You mean pay for every patch/test patch or just for new tracks and cars?

New tracks & cars.
We do already, actually. Live for Speed in itself is free, you just pay for content of either S1 or S2 level.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about microtransactions, but for LfS, I wouldn't mind if they sold all their cars and tracks seperately, allthough that would multiply the amount of data the userdatabase would have to manage. STill, I think there's a lot of money to be had to sell just the XRT and South City to those long time demo drifters.

Paying for new tracks and cars though is a different issue. I for one prefer the way it is right now, meaning that when you bought the full package, you're entitled to all the content that is and will be released for it.

If you have the feeling that the devs haven't got enough money from you, you can always donate.
Please don't be rediculous only paying for new S's please!
Or there have to be like car & track packs.
Then I would agree.
For like 10 new cars or 10 new tracks
There's nothing stopping you from giving more money to the devs if you wish. Just keep topping up your account with extra credit.

That's exactly what did I want to write here I totally agree with you.

How about the reverse? Can I sell back my RAC? It has very low mileage. Bidding starts at $2...

Can't help but wonder if that would really work out.

It's like saying that you feel S1 as a package costs too much money for some people. IMO it's not the wallet which is lacking, but the will to open it...

I'd rather welcome an increase in the frequency of releases of payed content packages, e.g. S2.1 at a fraction of the 12£ (the cost for the complete S2->S3 license upgrade)
i'd happily pay £50 for just one F1 track aslong as it isnt Monaco.
No need for more cars.
This is the only game forum I know of where the users actually suggest to pay more money. Decisions like these should be left in the hands of the developers, but you are free to donate as much as you'd like.
Yeah, good point about the LFS shop. People went on about for ages about LFS merchandise, yet when the shop went live, apart from an initial rush, I hear sales are slow. So donate your money through LFS shop and get a free cool t-shirt in return. You'll be the envy of all who frequent these forums (and haven't bought one yet either).

didn't someone make a model XRR a while ago...it looked kickass..can't remember who it was tho.
I'd but the XFG and RB4 if someone made models, seriously :d
I really have a big problem with games that either require you to pay, or propose you to pay for upgrades. I guess it's out of order to wish LFS to become a pay-per-month type of game. As for the latter, I'm uneasy about it. I've played a few games like that in the past. They're very cheap to buy (or sometimes even free), but to be competitive, or have access to the stuff virtually everybody plays, you need to buy upgrades.

Now, this is not the case of LFS. LFS, in its final S3 version, will have cost 36 GBP, which is on par with an expected title coming out. It's enough. I don't think you'd need to buy upgrades to be competitive, as most likely they would just open new tracks and cars, but it's probably safe to say that if, for instance, the Nordschleife was available on a pay-to-play basis, a ton of servers would converge on being Nordschleife only servers, and those without access to it would be left behind, probably without anybody to play with.

no to iLFS. Just release S3 and that will bring in more cash for the devs.

S3 will bring more cars and tracks and should finally open LFS to modding.
Who came up with this idea, someone from EA or iRacing? You gotta be kidding! Why should we pay for upgrades? I don't mind the huge 'S' bundles, but that is as far as I go.

I think we all would sell the RAC
Paying any more wouldn't do anything really. The devs are not in money trouble, they have enough money to develop this game and buy food at the same time. Surely they would tell us or come up with a solution if they were. Giving them more money now won't help, because they are already working as fast as they can/want.

EDIT: Infact the reason why the patch is taking so long, is not because the devs don't have enough money. It's probably the other way around, they have such a steady income that they don't need to push the patch out half done to increase license sales. Instead they can take all the time they need to make it as good as they can and release it when they think it is ready.
I like the system as it is.. pay for licence which includes certain cars.. as some more cars come out then the devs choose as and when to release new licensed content, I'll be buying.. I'm not doing a system like i-Racing.. screw that! :O
