The online racing simulator
Just installed the new patch and I can't connect to the master server now
I have no idea whay could have caused this. I was playing in a multiplayer game not more than 10 minutes before I installed the new patch.

I didnt change a single thing on my computer besides installing the new patch. I don't have any firewalls running (though I am behind a university network, which I would imagine would have a global firewall of some sort...however that's never interfered before )

I even tried installing a Q version since i had the rar on my computer still and that couldnt connect either!

I'm totally at a loss here and quite frustratred because I have no idea what could have caused this sudden inability to connect.

Help please
my problem is quiet same to yours...

~plz help us~
i'm very unhappy about this (going through LFS withdawal ) but more importantly I've got a game which I've paid for which is of no use to me currently.

Please help, or at least post in here to show that you give a damn.
Me too. No firewall here.
Try to set "Port 80 1" in the cfg.txt. Maybe you are connected through some kind of proxy.

thanks for your help but unfortunately that didn't work
well this has been very useful...illepall
some friends of mine have the same problem... there seem to be a lot of people with this problem...
Happend at my mates house with the old patch when I installed, nothing done to cause it, Norton decided to block it, I just clicked disable norton blocking outgoing ports or something along those lines, worked fine after that.

yeah...i just wish they gave a damn.

At least get my game unlocked for me, I did pay for it after all and I can't play it.

So what are you using? A little background info could go a long way.

It seems clear, since your PC is now not working with Q either, that the problem is not LFS, but some other config on your machine. Let's get down and dirty.. explain your connection scenario, and we'll see if we can come up with a way for you to connect to the master server.
Using DSL here, firewall disabled, Q works fine but U does not.
Going through routers etc, information is what is needed. If you want to get help direct from the devs then e-mail them through the website rather than complain on a forum ...

well I think it has to do with the university firewall somehow. I'm done w/university in a week and ill be moving so i'll just wait to try again then..
I have a similar problem.... I can host a server and it is partly visable...ie. My daughters PC cant create the server with the same name because there is another server with that name... But when she tries to connect (using specific name) it says "connecting to host" then goes back to screen.

This just started after the U patch! No hardware changes!

My friend and I also used to race on my server but it isnt coming up on the master server list (have done the port 80 1 to no avail)

XXXXXEDITXXXXXX

My bad...!!!!

The daughter turned on her PC first this morning which made my PC change the ip address....and in turn I had to reassign the port forwarding to the different ip address!! oops!
well now im at my new place and still having the same problem.

Now I am going through a router but i forwarded the ports I thought the game used (i looked in the cfg file for ports and forwarded those) but to no avail...i'm at a loss, again. There must be something on my computer.

U has a new version of the LFS.exe, so maybe some program is blocking it because it's not familiar with it (anymore). I had that with ZoneAlarm. Maybe try running LFS in windowed mode to see if you get some message or so?

I actually had exactly the same problem. After a fresh install, the game just would not connect to the master server. I posted about it somewhere...

Marvelously, after a couple of days the game just started to connect. Really strange...
Hi Guys,

What about the built-in WindowsXP firewall.Did you ever think about it?
Check it,set it for allowing LFS joining the net and then try again.Hope it will help most of you.
