Is there really no need for road car races?
Since the "death" of CTRA road car racing seems to be dead. XFG-XRG is done for good (I'm not willing to even notice the demo servers - I've not paid for S2 to race with wreckers or anyway, the same track over and over again). NDR and SR - just to mention the biggest - used to have really nice and stunningly populated TBO servers but they've disappeared as well. Nowadays, if I exclude BL1, Demo, Drift, Oval, Drag and GTR+formula cars (I know, I'm picky ) it get NOTHING. Getting to the point: is there really NO need for road car race servers? Where are those people who were crying over CTRA's death?
I do get your point, I haven't raced at all since CTRA has gone, racing tintops on Southcity and Fernbay is awesome fun, but it's hard to find a good server with those combos so for now, its bye bye LFS, Hellooooo GTA, to fill in the boredom

Agreed. We're sharing the same thoughts. I'm also a big fan of the TBO class and it's been frustrating for me also not being able to take part in a challenging and exciting TBO race. The servers have been completely empty. This stands for other classes as well. Demo servers are packed, but when it gets to S2 cars there's very little going on. A couple of licensed users here and there, scattered between a few active servers. One gets the impression LFS isn't popular at all. It's a shame.
The only thing I don't get that where are the people from the overpopulated NDR server? I read somewhere that "the TBO craze has calmed down but it was after a whole weekend without TBO server when they had some event IIRC. Now I see SR's FOX server being very popular but can't there be a fixed server with at least the three TBOs and all the tracks?
The problem is not that there is no servers. The servers are there. In case you need more servers, ask in the forums, it´s not hard to just open another server for server owners.

IMO it´s more a problem of these drivers not finding eachother. It makes me think of this proposal again, as this described subject would be a kind of SR ( safety rating ), iRacers talk lots about - and obv. like a lot and see it a missing feature of LFS.

I´ve realized a thing: As soon you open a TBO server, here best a reverse track, the XRT drifters will join a TBO server and ppl. with admin rights need to be online most of the time...

OP: There is still a need for road car race servers. You are right.
We need not more servers but more players. only about 1/4 of all servers has players playing in them
Quote from HavocS :I'm not willing to even notice the demo servers

I wish LFS had a "S2" filter , O wait it used to
Its very annoying, most times I go online now, I get the server list, then just switch it off, as there is no one racing, just demo and cruse/drag
hosts.
I filter empty hosts who wants to drive around alone for 1/2 hour

Nothing against demo users, Iv'e had a couple of good races in demo hosts, but most turn out bad.

All part of the ebb and flow of online racers I guess

SD.
if you want S2 filter use LFSWorld server list it has S2 filter and even more
Since CTRA is closed there is no more place where you always was able to race with people in it. I really loved that battles with XFG's and XRG's.

That.

XRG-XFG battles around SO were superb fun. BL1 in slow road cars just doesn't do it for me

Well, with this filter I couldn't join to 90 percent of the servers for sure. I don't play for being first, not even to be fast but to drive as safe as possible keeping up with the other racers. The idea is nice but it should consider yellow ratio instead. That wouldn't filter out the slow but careful people.

About the crashers: that's why I really don't approve of the destruction derby server. It's practically a crasher factory even if I try to tell myself that crashers will have their fun there and will leave "serious" servers/racers in peace.

There will always be people who want to spoil other peoples fun in life. Crashers in lfs, bullys in a school playground ruining smaller kids games, etc. The fact that there is a destruction derby server will not encourage or discourage this behaviour in my opinion.
It is a place that people can go where they don't have to be serious. Personally I like to log in there when I've had a drink or 2 so that I don't have to worry about my poor driving ruining other drivers races.
People who wish to spoil other's fun will not bother with the DD servers because their actions will not get the desired result.

OT I know but my 2p on DD servers and crashers.

Neighter could I. These were some random picked numbers only. Furthermore: Yellow flag ratios very often go hand in hand with the PB´s of a racer. @ AFAIK, there is no statistics about yellow flag ratio but PB´s are already covered.
Try Dead Men Racing. Different combo every week. Good, clean racing always an admin on board to protect you from numpties (assuming you're not a numpty yourself!)
For Demo users, Dead Men Racing D. Same applies except there is usually an admin on board.
End of commercial break.
SR will be setting up a XFG+XRG combo very very soon with rotating tracks etc and points. Just give me a day or two to sort it out

You don't run any of that "points & endless lines of chat spam" systems on the DMR servers do you?

I do enjoy the racing/atmosphere at DMR servers, unfortunatly most DMR members go to bed about 10pm hehe

Well, as for the points, we just installed Airio on our S2 server so there are points (still not sure if I like that or not ), but no endless lines of chat spam as far as I know

And yeah, you're right, the server usually goes empty at about 10pm GMT Whether they're all off to bed or somewhere else I don't know Peak hours are 7pm - 9.30pm, I'd say.

This week's combo: FZR's @ Kyoto Ring National.
Ok guys, I have setup a XFG+XFG server. It is called [SR] STD Racing and rotates tracks every 6 races with a HUGE tracklist. It also has it owns points seperate from the FOX server but no championship as yet. I am still working on it so might be some issues, not sure yet

there are still plenty of TBO servers, they're just unpopulated... not quite sure what that means exactly... i have a feeling it's just people's flying fancies, they race a group of cars for a while and then they move on to something else...

Might just to that. Well so long as you don't mean numpty = slow

Tried some of the other TBO servers but tbh all that was missing was Dick Dastardly and the SS cars don't do much for me atm so maybe it would be good to get back into them.

I was hoping you lads would set one up <3

Gonna eat my sandwich and hop on!
To me it looks like there are decent amount of servers, but what CTRA made differently was that it gave you a goal in form of licence levels. This made pickup racing meaningful and kept people motivated.

Numpty = idiot
