Video About Tire Deformation (SL AMG Vs SL CARLSSON.avi)
I thing every one in this list must watch the video which I sent as attachement. Video shows a little fragment of two modified Mercedes SL Class Sports cars comparison test. You can see the real tire deformation.
It's not really conclusive. There's no hard numbers to judge from, but just guessing, from the looks of it, and knowing the weight and tire shapes of those cars, you could rig an LFSTweak mirror of those two, and see if there's any drastic difference with LFS.
But from the looks of it, it's not that far off from LFS.. to prove anything you'd need facts and figures, not anecdotes.
ya...hmmm... I dont find anything wrong with LFS tyre deformation. Its quite accurate to me, I was watching the SanMarino GP yesterday and there was a great shot of Schumacher's tyre throughout a lap in Imola, and compared to the BF1, its very very good. Thumbs up to the crew!
I guess one note to those who are comparing LFS to real life is to consider tire pressure and tire construction. A lot of performance tires can run well into the 40's and 50's for pressure(psi), yet I see a lot of people who run very low, dangerously low in real life, tire pressures. How much tire deflection do you get when you run 20 psi in your real life car's tires. Pretty bad I bet.
Also consider tire construction. Are well looking at a single ply sidewall or double ply, any particular reinforcement or the lack there of in the tread area? Was it built for 35 or 51 psi? What compound(s) was used as well as what carass shape. It's not so simple as we're looking at a tiny selection of tires in LFS and trying to compare them to 200 different tires in real life, either randomly picking ones that match well or behave very differently.
Compare it to this video I made, a half speed lap round Kyoto National in an FXO, on reflection the tyres deform ok, but I think the sidewall is to weak, these tyres have 32psi in them BTW.
