U don't apply full throttle when starting, it will stall then
Quote from Vinnylegends :Guys guys.
Listen up:

''internally crash'' yes i wasnt able to find the word for it.
What I meant was. The piston will jam. Things like. Pumping too much fuel in. Wrong fuel mixture. Etc. Etc.
And those old engines when they jam you can just trow it away because they are almost always unrepairable and a new engine would be much better.
Trust me. I've seen many engines destroyed and had to fix alot of them myself too.

Pumping to much fuel won't cause it to seize! The engine will flood and stop. Nothing harmful will happen. And wrong fuel mixture can cause problems - yes but thats no different to Rotax!

a TKM is bullet proof. I've been involved in karting since i was born (23 years) and in all that time I have only seen 3-4 TKM engines seize. And if they do seize a rehone and new piston is all thats needed generally. TKMs couldn't be more reliable or simple!

Vinny how many clutch problems does a TKM have? How many starter motor problems? How many battery problems ? answer .. NONE they don't have em !

Old engines? WHat the hell is a Rotax Max FR125 if it isn't some old APrillia engine bits of the shelf glued together! And I've seen several Rotax engines explode punching holes in the crankcase.

Don't worry Oscar I amnot sure this dude knows much about the TKM BT82

No im not involved with TKM engines but I havent heard really good things about it. And I agree the new Rotax Engines are crap. Thats why I got a 2008 Model.

You haven't heard good things about it? Who from? TKM has been pretty much a UK based class for over a decade now so where are you getting this information. The BT82 was raced in America for a while winning the world endurance championship I believe as well once quite a while back but other than that UK based

So if you haven't been involved with the TKM engine how can you feel positioned to comment about it.

Because I spoke with enough people that have had experience about them.
Who they are doesn't matter.

What does matter is your advising someone about an engine you haven't seen in the flesh and your providing information that isn't consistant with the truth of the engine.

You said if the engine seizes its unrepairable. This simply is not the case and downright wrong. Whoever your gettiing your information from clearly has been mistaken!
well, in comparisan (spelt wrong) ive heard only good things about tkm's. not only that but i loved it. In realistic terms, im 14, thats fairly late on to start karting considering most people start at 8, im in it for fun, and if i get a better finish here and there, its just a bonus. Also, i sort of figured out that there is going to be some nudging on the stat first lap etc... but if someone is nudging me wide just to get in front, then they have less skill becase they cant pass "well".

again, thanks for all the positive C + C

oscar.
Intrepid. I have seen them and driven a TKM only once. But I have never been directly involved with things like TKM Races.
But lets stop about this and return ontopic!
that sounds like a good idea, although, im one to talk, i probably speek to highly of tkm, ive only driven them once too :P
Don't worry Oscar you in good company. A certain chap leading the F1 WDC learnt his trade in TKM
If a Jade Kart is so awesome why have I never heard of it?
Never ever seen it race.
it doesn't mean because YOU didn't hear it that it's not known.....
Jezus give the guy a brake and let him race his kart...spoiled brat
Quote from Vinnylegends :If a Jade Kart is so awesome why have I never heard of it?
Never ever seen it race.

Up until recently all chassis in TKM had to be manufactured in the UK. The original name of Formula TKM was 100 UK because of ths fact. The reason you have never heard of it is because the JADE chassis he drives is a a UK chassis specificially built for a UK based class!

Ohw ok. I'm currently only involved in Dutch and European racing grades so thats probably why!
Glad to see you are getting into it mate! any motorsport is good.

Me, together with 2 mates have just completed our three year ban from red lodge karting centre in suffolk for 'excessive contact'

Maybe pushing my mate all the way along the straight and then staying on the back of him and following him into the tyre wall flat out was a bit much in hindsight.

Especially as he then got going again and i gave him a massive full bore head on on the next lap which broke both of our karts at the front, very bent metal.

Then my other mate saw me sat there and couldnt resist, so he came into the back of me flat out which wrecked his kart as well  but they did know that we are all banger drivers but still put us all out together in the rain.

All the karting centres fault obviously.
Quote from JPeace :vinny, u may not have heard of jade karts, but u have heard of tony kart and intrepid, me, ashley jones and jade karts beat intrepid and tony karts on a regular basis

so now you have heard of jade karts

Ok then.
Well I've raced against a Tony Kart today. They were pretty fast.
But ok. Then Jade Kart is indeed a good kart.
But its not the chassis who is fast but the driver. Remember that.
