My favourite teams from eras gone by are Lotus and Tyrell. They are the ones that are reknowned for their innovation, invention, and sometimes plain whackiness.

Steward -> Jaguar -> Red Bull
Minardi -> STR
Tyrell -> BAR -> Honda -> Brawn

Stewart debuted in 1997 and Tyrrell's last season was in 1998, bought out by British American Tobacco in order to be rebaptised as British American Racing (BAR). And Stewart entered F1 without buying any other team.

There has been more innovation in F1 than just Lotus.
