Multiplayer without internet?
Hi,

Im going away and me and my gf have lfs on our computers....

Is there anyway of playing multiplay without an internet connection?

As weve got a week in a caravan so Lfs would be great...

Cheers

Scott
If you have only one computer, no, there's no split-screen. If you have two or more, sure. You can even unlock s2 on both legitimately (before you go off the interwebs, obviously). a hub, router or a wireless access point allows you to multiplay on a LAN. You could even just get a patch cable and connect directly from one computers ethernet port to the other. Some network configuration needs to be done for it to work properly.
Sweet dude,

can i have a bit more info?

Ive got an ethernet cable connected into both the computers but still no joy.

We both have S2
The ethernet cable must be the 'crossover' variety if you connect it directly from one PC to the other. Can't give you any help with the configuration because I lack another computer to test it on. I know there's an option to create a direct connect network somehow..

edit:
something like this http://www.conniq.com/WinXPNet ... net_direct_connection.htm
Thanks for the help...

Anyone shed some more light on this for me?
Just set both to static ip's, one of them 192.168.0.1 and the other 192.168.0.2, disable any firewalls, then start new multiplayer game, and join it from the other machine.
If they both have wireless, you can "setup" an access point on one of them (really easy if you have Vista, find it in control panel. Not sure how to go about it in XP), to setup a LAN. Then it's just set up a LAN server as normal, and connect
if connecting 2 computers directly, then yeah a crossover cable is needed. If you have the means, you swap pins 1 & 3, 2 & 6 on one end of the cable. Google it to be sure, (youre swapping the oranges and greens). or just buy a crossover cable.
So, you are spending a week in a caravan with your girlfriend and you are worried about being able to play LFS.....
I really don't understand the youth of today (slips into old fart mode)
epic misread, post made redundant.

If they're both on Gigabit-LAN (and only then) there's no need for a crosslink cable, a simple patch cable would do...

Quote :Automatic crossover

Automatic MDI/MDI-X Configuration is specified as an optional feature in the 1000BASE-T standard[1], meaning that straight-through cables will usually work between Gigabit capable interfaces. This feature eliminates the need for crossover cables, making obsolete the uplink/normal ports and manual selector switches found on many older hubs and switches and greatly reducing installation errors.

I always wondered why I could connect any of my the machines in my house together with the same cable I use for any of the routers or switches I have. I thought I'd look silly if I said it was possible

It's even working the other way round. (I have successfully used crosslink-cables as patch cables... )

I linked my post here as well...
Didn't know that, thanks for the info
