Quote from Smax :This is a psd skin file which I started but have no time to take further, feel free to do as you please with it, [if it's of any use to you that is ]

Im trying to do something with it but......................... kind off tired of skinning heheh. Also as I said few times, getting a idea is the hardest part of the skinning.
Ok, the website is ready for release - I just need to upload the Mechanik files.

www.lfskl.cjb.net

I will PM Victor and ask for a sub-forum later.

Please, everyone interested in the league sign up!
Quote from Leifde :I wonder how fast a 250cc 2-stroke would be...

I race a 250cc 2-stroke. It will do 0-60 in 3.1 seconds, and about 150 mph. Round most circuits, (we race on long circuits such as Silverstone and Brand Hatch), we are 5 seconds per lap quicker than a race prepared (slicks, engine tuned etc) Ferrari 360. We are soooooo much quicker than a 250 grands prix bike that it is silly.

The twin cylinder 250s are even quicker - 0-60 in 2.1 and 165 mph. In the late 1980s, 250 karts held outright lap records at some British circuits. Good fun - and cheap, who could ask for more?

Actually the new F1 car on LFS has a similar feel to a 250 kart - though it is obviously a lot quicker in reality, there is still that "Oh my god things are happening too quickly - my brain can't keep up" feeling about it, especially under braking where it is easy to be wrong by 10 or 20 mph on corner entry (usually braked too much!). The only difference is that a kart is more twitchy.
Oops, I meant non-gearbox

250 superkarts are awesome, when I used to race at Strubby (have you ever been there?) I used to love watching them. I'm going to be at the British Superkart GP this year, are you racing?

P.S. An update on the league: I PM'ed Victor about 30 mins ago asking for a sub-forum.
tony kart
did a VERY simple tony kart skin. i think it will do alright for start

EDIT: Coming up next : INTREPID, Gillard

Season calendar:

April 30th - LFSKL Track
May 14th - Aston Cadet
June 18th - Fern Bay Green
July 23rd - South City Classic
August 6th - LFSKL Track

It's a short opening season (5 races) but it's just to build interest in the league, the next one will be longer.

I may hold a 3 hour endurance race sometime September/October time depending on who wants it.

I thought Sunday was the best day so that's what I've scheduled the races on, I can change it though.

Last but not least, don't worry about remembering the dates as it will come up on the calendar on the website when it gets to that month.
This is very complicated lol... why don't you just download or buy a karting game???
Seriously? Have you seen the karting games out at the moment?

Unfortunately I wont be able to race on August 6 since I will be on vacation in Poland by then.(No internet connection) Damn I will have to win everything so I wont lose because of that race.
Forgot to put that there will be 1 dropped round in the following seasons (longer ones) but not this one.

@Kajojek: when do you get back from your holiday? I can reschedule to when you get back if needs be.

Im going to Poland on June 24 and I will be back somewhere in September so I dont know if its ok with everybody to wait just for me that long. Maybe a little race before I go?
If it's alright with you, I will keep the schedule as it is and run a winter championship as well.
Damn
darn i cant make it on 30.th. goint to practise irl. very bad

EDIT: or maybe. if i make it back at 19.00 . i hope so
I'm taking my license test on Monday, I should pass. Random bit of info for you there

Anyway, I hope you can get back, but don't worry if you don't - with a maximum of 80 points per round (next is 60) you'll catch up quickly if you're good enough.

Just looking through the smilies, these ones rule

Yes, I'm doing the 250 challenge series:
  • Pembry at May 27th/28th,
  • Mallory Park, June 18th
  • Kirkistown NI June 31st/July 1st (I'll probably miss this)
  • Donington Aug 13th
  • Snetterton Sep 3rd
  • Pembry again Sep 16/17th
and I certainly hope to be at Cadwell Park July 22nd/23rd for the Grand Prix. Come along anyone who wants a good day out, superkart racing is (normally) very good spectating. See link for details of GP for anyone interested.

Also following link for some other details and a couple of good onboard videos:

Hope to see you there!
Any idea if you can get pit passes? :P
I should be there but I need to book the tickets, they're £16 I think
Good luck on the championship and at the grand prix.

Back to the karting league - as you can see we now have our own section and I will be posting threads with details on them of what to do etc.

It's not just a question of engine size in each stroke capacity, you also have the threshold of power from the weight, twin 180 4-strokes produce way more power than twin 160 4-strokes because the base weight (160 or 180kg depending on series) is the same.

Thunderkarts with a 400cc 4-stroke engine are certainly slower on acceleration than a 100cc Formula TKM and on any short circuit (ie: a kart track not a grand prix circuit) will find itself lapped in short order, loosing a few seconds on a typical 40 second lap.

The 125cc Rotax engine being 'simulated' here is a beast, pulling away from the line for the first session of the day is sheer adrenaline. Where 4 strokes have the legs is in endurance racing, most 2 strokes are only good for about 10 minutes of use before cooling off. The 4 strokes will do a 24 hour race happily. They're also cheaper to run, although as they are mostly used in twin engined formats more expensive to start up in ... Twin engine layouts are much more balanced and more comfortable to drive long races in.
I know how much quicker rotax's are than most 4-strokes - even minimax's lap faster than prokarts

I don't get what you mean by your post though - are you saying that the presets aren't very good? I know they're not perfect because I'm trying to make a 2-stroke out of a turbocharged 4-stroke
