Nice looking thread
/me is ashamed
Nicee ,
How long did that take you?

Well, it was mostly copypasta'd from other places, so it didn't take too long - you just need to know where to look I suppose. Still took a little while though - I wanted a nice Bahrain thread! (No offence Texas/S3AN :razz
Meh.... And here i was typing my thread... All for nothing now

Anyway, should be good race hopefully.
"The track offers the driver a unique experience in the way the circuit's width varies at the end of the different straights. This allows for diverse racing lines, and the 12-corner design provides at least three genuine overtaking opportunities."

Oh whoopie doo..

Just three or four places to pass on each lap. Don't sound too good to me.

However, some longer straights should favour the cars with higher top speeds and/or KERS bit more. I've got a feeling Hamilton will have his best race so far here.
Blackwood only has 3-4 obvious overtaking oppurtunities ? What's the prob?

It's a sub 1-min lap?
Quote from JPeace :not really, only fox, fbm, fo8, xfg and xrg are good for racing at blackwood, and they are all over the 1m mark ?

And they'll be even longer at Bahrain...

The point is Bahrain has 3-4 passing points for a 1.30 lap, Blackwood has roughly the same for a 1.00 lap [in the BF1].

Real racing drivers make overtaking opportunities appear where they aren't supposed to be.
You can't compare Blackwood to Manama. If Blackwood was a RL track, the F1 would not be able to pass because the two main straight are too short and too narrow.

Anyway overtaking is really easy at Manama IMO, we have four wide +700meters straights here, there's no need to complain about this point.(even if the track looks boring, and is absolutely pointless because of its location)
i counted 6 places
Usually the best overtaking happens on cicuits where people don't expect it.

It think it's great we're putting our LFS sim experience to good use.

Quote from Mattesa :It think it's great we're putting our LFS sim experience to good use.

LFS sim experience means jack all. LFS doesn't simulate aero turbulence, which influences the behaviour of F1 cars a lot when they try to overtake each other, nor does LFS simulate flat-spots in terms of chassis vibration and its affect on drivers, and LFS's tyre simulation is much more forgiving than F1 tyres. And finally, LFS doesn't simulate fear!

i don't think fear comes into the equation with F1 drivers
Quote from BenjiMC :i don't think fear comes into the equation with F1 drivers

Maybe not, but a sense of self preservation most certainly. LFS has none of it. Essentially trying to compare LFS with real driving let alone real racing is like trying to compare playing a FPS with real war, pointless. A reasonable representation of general car behaviour it may be but on an objective realism scale it would be lucky to score above 3/10.
This has gone really fast (at least for me). Already round 4!

Domenicali promising a big step forward in Spain.

Didn't he say similar before Malaysia and China?

We'll see.
everyone will step forward though.

Well, the question is, will it be a BIGGER step forward than the other teams? Everyone takes forward steps in F1, it's a matter of how big the step is.

I think Renault will be angling for the biggest step in Spain.

Well not the specifics anyway. But there are bound to be general principles which do translate (this is a racing SIM, and that's why we play right, because it sort of in a distant way gives us some sort of that real life experience?) As it relates to this discussion, we have experienced the struggles of trying to pass competitors and how track length layout etc. can play into that.
who bets on a BL1/demo server move by kubica at T1 ???
