Virtual Dub error...any idea?
well, i have the problem when i wanna compress a clip recorded with fraps in divx it always gives me the error "Video Compression error: The source image format is not acceptable. (error code -2)".
ive googled it, and what i saw this error pops up when using resolutions that have not a width of 4 and a height of 2.
means 1024x768 should work, or 800x600.
but those are the resolutions i record with.

so im pretty lost.
the format of the raw file is correct and i havent found any other possible reason.
does by chance anyone here have had this error and a fix?
Use the resize filter to resize the height to be a multiple of 2, width the multiple of 4 and both multiples of 16?
This doesn't solve your problem but gives an equal or better solution to it:

When I record anything raw from fraps I compress it with a codec called HuffyuV - its a real great lossless codec that somehow manages to get a much smaller file size. I then edit the clips together in Vegas/AE using this format, and render that as an Uncompressed AVI - I then encode it to X264.

This is a big annoyance and it took me about a day to figure out how to work the X264 codec but the end result is awesome - a 10 minute clip, 150mb and virtually uncompressed quality.

Do some google's on HuffyuV, X264 and a program I use to encode called Staxrip.
darn, this sounds complicated
but thanks, ill give it a try

There some divx status window that you need to disable in order for Virtualdub to be able to use divx. Don't know if that's the issue as usually it just locks up Virtuadub.
I had this problem with WMV files (I have the WMV plugin). Other WMV files recoded in VirtualDub, but these were High Resolution 900 x 504 files.

I resolved this problem simply by selecting a Microsoft WMV codec. So this problem is just a codec problem. Having said this, the solution for each user is different depending on the INPUT file. You have to find the right codec for your input file & get VirtualDub to recongize that codec so it is in the list of codecs available to VirtualDub.
Eww, why you'd ever use WMV?..

Especially with such weird resolution as 900x504.
