The online racing simulator
Since patch S/T sounds stops after few hours of play
Hello,
Since the new patch i experiencing a problem with the sound of lfs.
After a few hours the sounds stops and everything is silent. It happens about once every 4 hours of play. Pressing shift+w seems to be a good work around for now. This problem did not occur with the old version, it never happened before in any game at all.

Also with the online races i met more people who complained about loosing sounds after some time of play. So i don't think it is a problem with my computer or drivers, but a new small problem with lfs. It can be very annoying especially during league races.

My suggestion, please fix this sound problem

Often the makers of a game want the configs on which certain problems, it is possible be everybody with a sb audigy 4 card has this sound problem

My config:
cpu: amd64 3500+ (clawhammer)
mem: 2gig ram
systemboard: asus 8v deluxe
video radeon: 850xt pe
sound creative: audigy 4
network: onboard marvell yukon gigabit
additional ide controller: promise 133 TX2
total harddisks: 5
Ermm this should be in the Technical Assistance forum, but anyways....

It might be your sound card, but also make sure you aren't accidentally pressing SHIFT-N, that turns the sound on/off in the game.

Also, if the sound ever cuts out, you might want to press SHIFT-W, that reintialises the sound.

Hope this helps. It might not fix the issue, but you may want to try these keypresses before fiddling with hardware.

Or the bug report forum for that matter, as it´s affecting more people.

On your notes... I doubt he presses shift-N every 4 hours roughly... And he already told us that shift-w reinitialises his sound. It could be some strange Audigy 4 thingy. I have an Audigy 2, and do not experience this problem at all... Although every now and then the soundcard seems to be gone from Device Manager in Windows, which is strange...
Never noticed he mentioned Shift-W, but as for the Audigy 4 stuff and wierd Audigy issues in general, lots of people have problems with Audigy cards, I can vouch for that

I don' t have problems with the sound card, its works fine in btf2, silent hunter III, call of duty III, far cry, civalisation IV, star wars republic commando, hearts of iron 2, stbof and several games i forgot to mention. So the audigy 4 card is working fine for me.

So only lfs is now giving problems since the new update. It did not occur with older versions.

btw: I agree, i should have posted this in a bug-forum Where is the bug-forum?
While i dont loose sound totally - i do find on occasion that the sound 'changes' almost like its become more echoy... will try the shift+w thing.. thanks for that.

I had this problem at first (patch S) too. It happened once or twice, but it hasn't happened since one of the recent test patches (and I've done some extended sessions) so I figured it was just a glitch with my hardware (Old SB Live). I guess there may be/ may have been some issue in LFS now that I see this post.
I think this bug has always been there, since I first started playing LFS in May 2004.

Same soundcard Gunn, and yes I experienenced this only on Monday. Never before, never after, only on Monday. Had to do a reboot of LFS then shift+w to get it working.

Was very odd in deed
