Popular servers like Live To Cruise Demo ones are often filled with people instead of other servers.

Now to stop the "cruise" bitching, let me clear this.

I don't mind cruise servers, I drive as fast or slow as I wish and it's nice to tune cars on, the barriers add a little more excitement to the course, but!

I also drive on race servers, and it sucks when all of them are only demo ones too, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to make a system where demo users CANT "take over" licensed user cars, and the server admin could give them the option of joining and such, maybe just allow demo users to "spectate" certain races, or on servers like cruise/autox allow them to join in their type of cars while s2 guys can use their cars.

In the end it'll bring demo users closer to the paid userbase, and possibly coin them into buying a S2 license which we all know the devs and us would prefer, I dislike all the filled demo servers

Get it? Not the most needed thing but if simple to complete it'd be nice, also could we have a raise in server user count?

I think I remember that someonme said way back in time that such a system would make cracking LfS easier.

I still agree though that seeing the S1+2 cars and being able to spectate and watch replays on all servers would be getting some people to buy it.

But I'd also like to use this thread to suggest something (not exactly on topic but I believe it does fit here) - We all know how 2 demo users can "take over" a host that has kick/ban voting enabled.
I say why not disable these buttons for the demo users to S2 users(like they are disabled for the admins).. or easily said - don't allow demo users to vote kick/ban S2 licensed users, because it is pretty annoying to join a server and get banned by 2 demo users that are there just for that(it happens rly rare to me, because I rarely go in demo servers but that's one of the reasons I stopped joining them).

This is not the only case. I remember once(I was still demo tho) I entered a rally cross host (it was my 1st time) and was just about to join the game when one guy maybe decided that he doesn't like me or idk and voted to ban me spamming "Ban this crasher", when of course I was banned which was a bit annoying rly, but what is worse - at these times you can get banned in a demo host if the guys there find out that you are S2 licensed(happened to me once). Don't know for what other silly reason you can get banned in demo servers but I do believe there are more than those.

Also disallowing the demo users to vote kick/ban S2 licensed will give them one more stimulus to buy S2(they will see that S2 license saves you a lot of unnecessary arguing). So the idea suggested by the OP combined with this one will help demo users see that S2 is really worth the money(if you can call 24pounds money since it's almost nothing for what you get in return).

E: Just thought of something more: Disallow the demo users to write in the meeting room when there are S2 users since recently there is a new mode amongst them - Write "XXX - I f****d your mother". I can attach uncensored screenshots of this if you want. But I do believe that demo users need to be juust a bit more restricted on the side of the functions they can use in lfs.

E2: Sorry to all mature and thinking demo users, I know it's not all of them who are acting this bad. There are some really cool people. Too bad there are such idiots that download LFS just to noob around.

I already sugested this , one system apart like the cmx viewer , but only to watch replays, so , demo users or s1 , can watch freely the replays , and try to make demo user buy the s2 lisense

They already have enough to play with -1.

Yeah, I was thinking the same.. Some S2 licensed are even worse than demo users, so I completely understand your point.

One suggestion: allow layout in demo. Layouts are a part of the sim. It's also good for rookie training. Good training will surely bring more arcade players into the world of sim racing.

About layouts on demo servers: Could we give it a try on one test patch? It will become the favorite test patch of the demo users.

A friend of mine is recently busy with rookie training. He once said that it would be much better if demo allow layouts.

LFS Needs to GROW, I'd pay monthly to play LFS once I saw a tad more development, yes I hate the demoers but allowing them in certain S2 servers would remove the need for so many servers

The LTC cruise server have gotten a lot to buy S2, if demos could join their normal servers it'd be filled more often, they'd see how effin fun lfs is besides the other servers they could join (We dont only cruise, so save those comments) and they'd buy

I agree partially but demo users need some sort of reputation system. Like every user to be able to rate you ONE TIME with scale from -3 to 3(or allow every LFS user to vote for one demo user every week with a scale again) let's say and every time they vote for you you gain or lose rep points. Then I'd really like something like an option to specify the owner of a server in the settings file and if the owner is S2 licensed to be able to specify to allow demo users with rep higher than specific amount to spectate and once again rep higher than given amount - let them drive or something like that.

Would also be cool for demoers to unlock functions while gaining rep points. Like if you have 30 points - be able to vote for others(because if one creates N accounts and starts voting for himself itll be stupid), then after some rep points being able to drive in S2 servers with demo specs, after that maybe to be able to join demo servers with layouts and to be able to load layouts on such servers, then maybe on every 150 points to be given X amount of kms to drive on S2 servers having different tracks.. Like you gain 300 points and you can drive 300kms on S2 servers that have specified that demo users can drive there if they have more than lets say 200rep. So if S2 servers have specified 150pts to let demoers drive there and they have 150points also let them.

Why I want this: Would give demo users a reason to keep their accounts instead of making new ones every damn time when they get banned from a server. Would make it more interesting for demo users to play LFS and will keep them to the game since they will have goals to reach. Would make demo users more mature because the more negative votes you get the less functions you have. Would let demo users see that S2 users get along a lot better in S2 servers than demoers in demo servers and => will give them another reason to buy S2.

All of the values are just examples. I don't want this to be definetly the case but something similar. I do realize that this suggestion will be most-likely ignored but I'd be very happy if I ever see such thing included in LFS and working.

@ broken I think giving demo users incentives not to lose their license is a good idea, but the benefit licensed users would get from this is dubious IMO.

And it would give them also another reason: get a license so they can get rid of the restrictions without learning how to behave on track

@ Keling, some users spend a great deal of time on demo servers trying to get unlicensed players involved in LFS (I've done this as well), and you probably feel expanding demo capabilities is a way to reward those licensed players, too.

OTOH demo players need to be reminded there is a much bigger world waiting for them when they get licensed, and NOT provided with a cozy environment when they will linger on forever. Adding more AutoX features does exactly the latter, providing access to a great number of new 'tracks' beyond the usual BL1, BL2.

They have to reach a point when they are enticed and want to go ahead but THEY CAN'T... unless they buy the license.
