karts on the neurburgring norschlief
are karts allowed on the neurburgring norschlief?

if so, does anyone have a video or a link to a video?

i'd love to try it personally but i'd be scared to death of getting run over.:tombstone

You CAN drive fast non-road legal cars on the circuit (as long as they remain under the noise db limit), but not crazy things like karts.

FYI, when I was there we passed a tour bus on the circuit

A Radical's the closest thing I've ever seen to a kart on that track, the video's in the "racing videos" thread in this section somewhere.

Sorry to be picky but it's Nurburgring Nordschleife.

that's a link to the webcam that watches the entrance, sit there long enough and you might see something sexy on it

Techically he's almost right. Nuerburgring is the 'phonetic' spelling of Nürburgring with the ü spelt as 'ue'. Perhaps his finger slipped :P

Yes but you would have to rent the track for yourself, which is quite expensive Usually it's open for public, it's a public toll-road. On these days all vehicles have to be road legal and German traffic law rules apply on these days too, so no slicks etc. etc.

The Radical SR8 is avaliable in road legal trim and it was a road car that did the lap at the 'ring (hence the road car record). Apart from the 24 Hour and Classic Marathon ('60s GTs) I don't think there are any race meetings held at the 'ring anymore or any test sessions. Running a test or race session on the 'ring requires hundreds of marshalls + huge insurance bills and isn't economically viable for anything other than very high profile events.
Last year the german Toyota Yaris cup had a race at Nurburgring (the new 24-hour track) and they have 2 races there this year (not sure on which configs) so races do happen.

They still have industry-pool days, and many manufacturers still test. BMW have their test station just about 500meters away and race teams like Edo and Manthey still test alot. On a mid-week day you can spot many scoop/camouflaged cars too, so it's not like nothing happens there
^^ Road car testing is still nothing like race car testing in terms of costs of safety/insurance etc. Don't manufacturers send their scoop cars out in normal public sessions though? Seems a bit obvious booking the 'ring to send a camoflaged car round (although they obviously do actually want them being spotted).

Yes, new cars are tested in public traffic on the Nordschleife.

Are you sure Vain? Never ever saw a camouflaged car driving on tourifahrt-days. I think it would be a big risk too, seeing most test drivers know the track very well, and then coming across blind bikers and tour-busses doesn't help testing alot, I think
