[REQ] Constant GAS and BRAKE
HI!
I play LFS with mouse, and i was thinking, that it will be so cool, if i could keep the gas or brake pedal, constant.
I use Click Left for acceleration, and Right Click for brake...
when i click, it just full pedal, i would like to keep an instant RPM... or somethink like this...
Hope you understand me, and sorrry for my bad english.
Thanks in advance!
use buttons instead for gas and brake, and just steer with mouse.Thats how i did it for 2 years.

thanks,
i use mouse to steer, and i use mouse to gas/brake...
i just want to know if it's possible, for exemple, to keep rpm to 4000rpm, with mouse + program, or somethink
You can assign the mouse as axis in the wheel/joystick area of the control options. This lets you use the x axis (left/right) to steer and the y axis (up/down) as throttle and brake. This way you get full variable throttle and brake with the mouse, so you can hold the revs where you like.

Driving like this takes getting used to (especially now auto-cut is gone) but gives you a lot more control than using buttons for throttle + brake.

Thank you so much, i will try this.
3 words. THIS RUINS LFS (if used with cars that shouldn't have it).
What do you mean?
Without some sort of additional program, and I don't know what that would be, you cannot get analogue control from a digital switch.

I have heard of people using something like a controller from a PlayStation 2, which has pressure sensitive buttons... but then I suppose you would just use the mini joystick instead anyway.

i have this already - its called the Microsoft Sidewinder controller.

Piece of garbage.
And how is this works?
It's better then gas/brake axis control with mouse?

I have previously used the mini joystick of a game controller in other games, and basically you just have more of a feel of what you are doing.

If you have the mouse set up in LFS so that pushing it forward accelerates and pulling it backwards brakes then it is very difficult to tell when you are fully on the brakes or the power.
I use W for accelerate, S for brake, left mouse up shift Right mouse down shift and mouse to steer, easy
And, could you hold on the acceleration at 3500rpm, constantly, about 30 second?!
no, of course you can't...
that was the point of this topic!
It's impossible imo to hold it at a certain amount of rev's using only a digital button, not unless you were able to changet he LFS script itself?

Aint gonna work mate. Buy a Cheap USB analogue controller far better, especially if you cant afford a wheel or such.

Precisely.

If the person who created this thread, I noticed English wasn't their best language, doesn't understand what we mean...

You will never be able to do what you want with a button that "clicks". A digital button will either be on (full throttle) or off (no throttle), you cannot press such a button halfway.
I got it.
When i cruise, cuz i can't drift with this control way, i just move the mouse forward, so i can gas, and backward to no gas, or brake. It's work fine, but i'm not totaly used with that.

Excuse my terrible english, i'm 14 and i'm romanina..
hope you understand me
There are demo cruise and drifting servers? I didn't know that.

there is demo cruise and drift servers....
demo drifters use XRG...
and cruisers blackwood...
and in first message i guessed that guy is cruiser... there is no other use for constant gas
Just use a Xbox 360 Controller (USB). This gives you a stick for steering and pressure sensitive buttons for throttle/brakes.

Or just buy a wheel...

we can do this.

All what we need is GlovePIE (0.30) + PPJoy (virtual joystick)

principle: if you will be hold down left mouse button speed will be increase. speed stop increase if you release left button and constantly with constantly RPM. If you hold down right mouse button, RPM and speed will be decrease

I can help with script for GlovePIE
would not it be easyer in theory this...
Program reads rmp:s from outgauge
Then user Puts his desired rpm to [____]/RPM and [_](for hotkey to activate it)
program then reads outgauge data and if Revs are smaller than what user putted, program gives throttle until desired Revs are gained.... and if revs are higher program then lowers throttle until Revs are desired... Just like in real life those cruise controls do
(like so that program has virtual axis for throttle and brake also and also could be other hotkeys to rise rmp like hmm 100rpm higher or lower so that user can adjust speed)
so poor quality that i dont even see whats happening in that
