Quote from tristancliffe :Thanks for trying to understand my drivel! I don't think I wrote it well.

In the Sims2 she had several families. When she played Family A then Family B was paused. As such SHE was in control, and could decide who liked who, who loved who, who lived where etc.

But in Sims2 Family B continues to do stuff whilst you play Family A, so you have LOST that control. You might spend ages getting a character to have an affair with someone, but whilst you play as another family then they might change their minds and do something else.

Does that make more sense? She is worried that because the whole city is alive, rather than just one household at a time, then she won't be able to make the stories she used to do.

Personally, I think she'll adapt and get used to it, but as you've played it I thought there was no harm in asking on her behalf...

Oh yeah, she will adapt! But, when you have 2 families, and you're playing with one, the other doesn't do things really. You do meet them at some places, but when you continue with them, they havn't changed, unless YOU want to have an affair or something like that.
I see. Well, she will be pleased!!!!

I have been given the task of creating a database of her characters. She really gets into it, and gives them dates of birth, and family trees and all sorts. So I'm having to relearn Access to make it for her

Personally, I just like trying to make a sim sleep with as many different people as possible! I create WooHoo addicts Oh, and I like making houses, but get bored decorating them... The Sims isn't really my sort of game

Haha same here. I loved when they were making love in the Sims2. Havn't succeeded in that yet... Decorating houses is much more fun now, just because everything works looks and is easier to use. Also that you can paint anything you want, like I painted my LCD screen green. The building also is lots more fun just because of the huge amount of objects. Also a fun thing is, You can be a criminal. And you have levels in each job, quite fun. My sim was a level 6 criminal, and I've been in jail for about 5 times.
Also the making of the sims is much more fun, you can now change almost everything on them.
A mate of mine used to make stories for them to do.

He had a family, perfectly normal, two kids, both parents working, middle class family, except there was a guy called 'The Stranger' who lived with them, who had no job and just lazed arounf watching TV all day and always wore nothing but cowboy boots and a tiny pair of speedos.

He also made Papa Lazarou from The League Of Gentlemen and set about collecting and imprisoning all the wives in the neighbourhood.

Haha, someone had too much time on his hands

I'm buying The Sims 3 legally because it comes with a 2gb plumbob USB drive And because downloading is very very slow.
Quote from Mp3 Astra :And because downloading is very very slow.

Not if you have private torrents or newsgroups. Gave me a constant 1,4mb/s on everything I download.

Actually, unfortunately other families do age as you play with a family in the same town. When I was playing with my second 'family' I was quite shocked to see my first guy walk past as an old man, and eventually he apparantly adopted a daughter and sort of died off. That's the cool part though, sims seem to have quite a strong urge to reproduce, or leave some other young sim in their footsteps, so the town doesn't die out after a couple of generations. There are quite some options to reduce or even disabling aging in the game though, so there's no lack of control in that department.

I must be the most horribly boring sims-player in the world though. I just keep the speed at x3 and only slow it to queue up short actions, then I powergrind skills, careers, families and offspring in a feeble attempt to 'beat' an unbeatable game

My last guy (force-bred to be a boy and he had his mother quite specifically selected, basically) had max logic, writing and painting before reaching the young adult stage, and 100% of the time he was on the honor roll throughout all phases of school. His dad made 150.000 per week in book royalties at the peak of his career, so that's a good start for building an evil mansion :>

I do this too...Especially the evil mansion part, I make one generation work their ass off for 100's of thousands, and then the second generation builds a HUGE mansion for themselves. And all my sims must have full points in all skills, otherwise they get "killed off" by the time they're adults

E: Now I want to go play Sims 2 again after a ~3 month rest. Curse you, subliminal advertising...
