Did anyone know who i can get better fps on lfs because right now i got arround 15-20 and its a bit bad. any program that can really help or any tip i can do to my computer to increase it ?

Get a better graphics card. It's not gonna turn your computer into teh über gaming rig, but with a decent card you should be able to get good FPS in LFS.

I didnt asked if i should buy a new graphic card, i want help to increase it, because new graphic card mean new power supply and its will cost too much for me. so anyone got suggestion to boost my fps on lfs ?

Other than new hardware, no. You can't just install a program and get double the FPS

Lower the graphical details within LFS?

Well maybe computer seting, overclocking, somethink ?

With that card, not alot of point TBH, plus i doubt its even overclockable.

GFX cards arent that expensive really, just save up for a while.

If i buy better gfx card i will need a new powersupply, and its will cost too much for me, better to buy a new one if i planning to buy gfx card and power supply

This was posted on the iRacing forums, with a vairying degree of sucsess.

What it does is it temporarily shuts down background processes, cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance.

As I said variying degree of sucsess, but some have said they have seen 10 fps increase in games.

[as normal, take all care when downloading something of the net, make sure all protection is used....however putting a rubber over the fan vents of the pc will only lead to hassle]

...Don't run LFS and go into Windows Task Manager and see if there are any applications using abnormal amounts of RAM and CPU time(CPU time moreso)...

The 4850 will be enough for you. I did read somewhere that a guy runned stable with a i7 CPU and a 4850 with a 450W PSU.

You could also get some used older card for very cheap price. LFS doesn't require much, some time ago I used to run it with ATi X800pro with high detail and high AA + AF with very good FPS. If you can find anything similar anymore it should be very cheap and doesn't maybe even require upgrading your PSU.

Of course first be sure if you need AGP or PCI-E type card. AGP cards nowadays can be harder to find.

There is nothing wrong with your computer and there is nothing you can do to increase frame rates leaving as is. (Ok, I was able to squeak about 35 FPS, but race starts were still a disastor.)

I have the same processor and same onboard graphics chip, probably the Compaq version of your HP. I installed a Sapphire ATI 1650 256mb 128 bit card in mine. I was able to run AA/AF settings near max and got about 80 FPS. LFS looked beautiful and ran flawlessly. That card would probably run about $30 now, but I can't find it on Newegg.com.

Mine burnt up, but it was my fault installing the soundcard too close so it didn't get any air.

Make sure you get the right slot as in AGP or PCI-E.

Again, I know you said "I didn't ask what gfx card to get...." but realistically, you are going to get the framerates you say you are with that system. There's no tweaking or getting around it. I tweaked mine until the cows came home and could only manage 35 FPS max but it ran like a slideshow on race start for the first few laps with everyone bunched up.

You need a graphics card, and they are dirt cheap for your system if you can find one. I need one too, but I can't be bothered because I don't game much any more.

Before you shell out on a new GFX card... how much memory is the Xpress200 set to use, IIRC it uses shared memory, what resolution do you play LFS at? lower = better fps, all your drivers up to date? sometimes a newer gfx driver will boost you FPS (not always)
open you display settings click advanced and check hte performance settings "quality" looks nice, but turns on AA+ AF and hit FPS hard.
check LFS settings try them all at lower settings etc.

do you have alot of processes runngin when you run LFS or many icons in your taskbar?

Do you have XP SP2 or SP3?

just some things to try before spending money, but if you want to get better GFXcard BigPeBe's post is spot on, I used an X850PE for ages, all settings maxed full AA+AF @1920x1200 and got 100fps+

It says that there is 958 Mb system memory available, so I would say that physically there is 1 Gb, so the Xpress is probably using 64 Mb.

I believe on that chipset you can increase(via bios) in steps to 512 I would suggest trying 128 to test for any improvment.

@OP have you installed any "texture packs" in LFS?

it might seem strange but i get about 20-30 fps more when i switch the game to windowed mode. if i dont remember wrong i never get more fps with windowed mode else then LFS. its just LFS having more fps with windowed mode. u can press SHIFT + F4 to toggle between fullscreen and windowed (:

His is an HP (same company basically) so I very much doubt he can get into the bios.

I loaded up LFS to check. I have some high res track stuff from can't even remember who it's been so long. I have many high res community add-ons, High res textures on in the options, full skin and helmet turned on, I use the regular res skins (not the pay for more stuff), and I'm still pretty much maxed out on all settings as I haven't played since my seperate card blew up and I went back to the onboard chip. My texture memory usage is listed in LFS as only 14.7 mb. LFS doesn't use much of the memory on graphics cards.

On a default HP/Compaq Windows install, there is a huge amount of stuff that is preloaded upon startup in the process list. It's been many years, but I recall having about 50 processes running when I booted this machine for the first time. This can be lightened up tremendously, but it really won't help a whole lot. I now run about 19 processes and as I said, I tweaked this computer a lot when I ran on the Xpress 200 chip and could get up to a measly 35 FPS, but I was forced to start in the back every race because it would not handle the first few laps at all.

Also, that 35 FPS was way back in the 20 car field max days. There's no way I could handle more than 20 (15 was my limit back then) and I very much doubt this guy's machine will currently either.

Believe me, I had tweaked and tweaked these HP/Compaq machines with the Xpress 200 onboard chip to the max until I finally broke down and bought a separate card. It was a cheap card (listed in my prev. post) at $45 back then and the difference was like night and day.

So true, the "brand name" computers are full of crap straight from the box. Uninstalling most of it is the first thing I do when installing one at my workplace.

Not that you can't get in, but what I mean is, the bios has no settings other than "numberlock turned on at startup" and changing the order of the drives the computer looks for an OS. There isn't much more than that in the bios of off-the-shelf systems.
