Hi Racers,

is there any possibility to avoid a switch-to-desktop, while racing LFS?
I mean, my machine is fully multimedia, phone, fax, chat, video, radio and so on. So it's very hard to turn off all programms, that try to get the main-focus (e.g. ICQ - new message, Antivirus regular scanning, ...).

So is it possible to avoid switch-to-desktop by not turning off all programs that may try to get it but by starting lfs with a special command switch? Or maybe, with an third party tool, that watches the windows-messages and discards an I-wanna-have-the-focus-message?

There's an option in the program TweakUI that allows you to prevent applications from taking focus. Google for it, it's on the Microsoft site somewhere. Some programs seem to be unaffected by it though. Isn't there an option in your AV program to prevent it? But what's the point in running ICQ while racing? And I assume you're not playing any videos while racing?

Yes, there should be an option in my AV (and I will find it). Don't know, if there are differences between ICQ-Versions, but in my versions, if I'm invisible and someone sends me an "offline"-message, I get a switch-to-desktop. The video-example was a bad one in this case, I agree.

I just wanted to point out, that it would be fine not to have a big exclude-list (did I turn off ICQ? Is my AV well configured for the next race? What happens, if I receive a fax in the next 10 minutes?) but to have one include-option, that forces LFS to stay on top.

There are also programs that allow you to set any window you choose to be "always on top". For example: http://www.fadsoft.net/AlwaysOnTopMaker.htm

Don't know if it's a good program, I haven't used it. But I have used a similar program in the past. Maybe something like that will help? But I assume it's possible that even with a program like that you would still switch to the desktop, with LFS on top but in a window. Maybe it's worth the try though
