Windows Vista keeps crashing (BlueScreen)
I downloaded and installed some updates for Windows Vista Ultimate today (I have the automatic Downloads disabled so I check myself every now and then and select what I need), but when my computer rebooted it crashed with a bluescreen within 2 minutes of booting. This keeps happening. Booting in safe mode works. I have reverted the system back to a restore point from before the updates, but the problem persists.

I can boot XP without problems. I have no idea what could be causing this. Any suggestions? Maybe my best bet is to get the Vista CD and use the Repair option or whatever, but then I'd have to go look for the cd in a room full of unopened boxes

Something didn't install right, i had the same thing happen to me on my laptop. But, i had a back CD that came with the laptop. If you have that use it. But why would you have auto updates disabled? The only time i have seen people have problems with these updates is when they have pirated OS's. I am not saying you do but most people that have this problem is because their OS is ripped or Pirated. I am guessing that the update might of did something to a file, either the update didn't install right or something got deleted..

It was a valid activated Vista but I'm almost certain it's like you said; one of the updates didn't install right.

Anyway, I reinstalled Vista so all is well again except that now I can't seem to activate my Vista anymore because it says that the license key is already in use I have changed my graphics card since my previous install but other than that it's the same computer and the same Vista. I've been looking on the MS site for a link or an email address where I can ask about this problem but haven't really found anything.
What does the BSOD say?

I honestly don't remember. The weird thing is that it wasn't always the same message. The only one I remember was "Bad_Pool_Call" (or something like that) but like I said, other times I got something else

Anyway, like I said I just reinstalled my Windows so there's no need for this thread anymore.

WGA is getting cracked ~2 days after new version, so that's not a problem too.
I have the same problem

"driver stuck in infinite loop"

occurs variously

You probably need to activate through the automatic telephone system. I've done that many times without problems.
