New processor
Ok right so,
atm I have an intel dual core E2200 2.2GHz processor, but I am looking for a possible quad core processor.
I know the pins on the processor i already have are 775, but im not sure wheather a quad core processor would be compatible with my mobo,
trouble is i'm not too good with processors and mobos,
I was wondering if anyone could help me find out if a quad core would be compatible with my computer
The pc is an Acer Veriton M464,
- updated graphics card to nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX
- updated psu to 665 watts
thanks in advance

Most lga 775 motherboards will support a dual and quad core, and if not they should only require a bios update (google it, if you don't know what that is). If you want your money's worth, I'd recommend a q9550 at $220 USD. Pretty good bang for the buck. If that's too much, an e8400 dual core should be great at $160 USD
I own E8200 2.6Ghz clocked at 2.8Ghz temporarily. Great processor. The E8200, E8400 and E8600 are all the same, different frequencies. So, if ur going on 8xxx series then tell us that because the frequencie costs alot on them. For cheapest choice, take the E8200 and clock it - some people have got it to 4.8Ghz on stock air cooler. If ur choosing something different then try to stick on with 45nm processors.

Exxx series info: (might be wrong in some point)

L2 Cache : 6mb
Core2Duo
