It's not bad, but I don't think it's a patch on the previous Battlefield titles. It also bugs me that you can't run the client on Opera. For a free title it's worth a look, at least until the guys with premium content start ganging up and owning all of the free players.
Theres no premium content (for money) that you can get to gain the competitive edge. Only most of the customizations are bought with Battlefunds that you buy for money.
Been playing it since beta, and enjoy firing it up every now and then. A good fast paced FPS
As Fuse said, only fancy clothes cost real money (BF).
Guns, widgets etc are bought with the points you earn for just playing, and completing missions (VP).
I normally play as a Commando, either OttoChriek or Pteppic
Account is Bean0 if you want to add me to your friends list.
And my rewards for participating in the beta were just sent to me. Via codes, anyway.
Sadly nothing that interesting, just medals. One set for each army. No idea if they have any special effects, but I wouldn't think so.
I never played it that much in the beta either. There's no depth to it and trying to get your team to act as a team is nearly impossible. It's better as an "I only have 5 minutes" game rather than something to spend hours and hours on. I'm in Quake Live as well and it's the same deal.
Downloaded the game a few hours ago, looks like a good way to blow up some steam. Unfortunately it keeps telling me that it couldn't find me a suitable matched so I haven't played online at all.
